So was hiring a High School coach.
You betcha:ncaabbs:
To be fair...
Rick Insell was hired two years before Todd Dodge, but then again Dodge has only lost 31 games where as Insell has lost 39. Though I suppose it should be mentioned that Dodge lost 31 games in three seasons of football(out of a possible 36 games) and Insell lost 39 games in five seasons of basketball(out of a possible 160 games).

6. Louisiana-L.
7. Louisiana-M.
8 North Texas
9. Western Kentucky
I predict Troy at Number 2, Florida International at 3, Arkansas State at 4, Louisiana L at 5, followed in order by the other 4.
Troy may not win the league, but I doubt we finish 4th.
My thoughts as well '05. I have a crazy feeling ASU might make a run this year. But regardless, Troy will not be #4. FIU will not be #2. I haven't come up with my official predictions yet, but Troy certainly shows no signs of slipping that far down.
There might be fewer ASU fans who believe we'll make a run then Non ASU fans. Sure we could be better. We now have a real offensive coordinator. are going to the spread no huddle, and will have a State Champion in High School starting at QB. but the thing is ASU hasnt won 7 games in a year since we last jumped to D1 and Its going to take a 7 win year to win the league this year

7 wins? Granted going 7-1 in conference and 0-4 in OOC, could potentially result in at least a co-championship, but I wouldn't count on it. The last time a team did it with just 7 regular season wins was FAU in 2007.

I think Troy finishes at number 2. I can't see FIU any higher then 6 or 7. As for North Texas, I can't say. I think we will be a much better team, but until we actually play a game, I can't say how much better. I don't think we will finish at number 8. I'm hoping for somewhere between 4 and 7. WKU will probably still be last. Even a great coach usually needs at least one or two seasons to see a turnaround, and their coach isn't a proven head coach at the FBS level.

I'll predict wins over Monroe and NT.

I think you guys made a great hire with Taggart, and Coach Mathis is a friend of mine from Midwestern State, so I know you have some quality guys running that program, but it takes time to get wins at this level. With ya'lls tough non-conference schedule (Nebraska, Kentucky, Indiana, and South Florida), WKY will likely be beaten up by the time conference play starts.
If WKY can beat Indiana at home, they might get one conference win this season, but I'd be a bad Mean Green fan if I thought it would be against us.

I know we still have strides to make, but I'd be a bad Hilltoppers fan if I thought the losing streak was going to hit 32. I think we'll find a way to end it at some point this season.

Does that make me an honorary bad Hilltoppers fan?
