Ah yes, the "mommy, the bad man is calling me names, so I called him a poo-poo head" excuse.

And every EagerEagle post bashes Tech. What does that get him? A bad reputation and an audience that immediately ignores anything he says. I have spent a year crashing his party and he is still an a-hole. Nothing is going to change that. Why waste the effort?

I don't care if some random college age punk says bad things about my school. I can do the same thing, and I have years of experience. People bad mouth others out of envy. No one is bad mouthing Baylor, Vanderbilt, or Iowa State. Why? Because no one cares. They are irrelevant. Tech fans bash LSU. Why? Because we want what they have.

Tech has been in a very good position for several years. We have at least two more years of being in a good position. Until the TV contract is renegotiated we do not know what our true situation is. Anyone who knows college football knows it is all about TV exposure and money. If the WAC pulls a rabbit out its ass and gets a good TV contract again, then everyone will want in. I am willing to take less money and stay on ESPN. Recruits want on TV. They don't care about money. Alumni can and will step up if we continue to be on TV and win.

Most intelligent football fans understand that any conference failing would be bad. The Sunbelt wants to move up in the conference rankings. Losing the WAC would not help them. The WAC becoming weaker would.

I will present facts where they are needed. I will not get into a pissing match with some pimple faced college kid who should be chasing girls and get off the internet.

Hey, Techsters, better follow Boise State's example and jump ship. The WAC is doomed.

The WAC may ultimately be doomed, but they are not this year with Boise State still in it and, if they run the table, may have a shot at a national championship. So, Tech would be foolish to leave this year. Next year after Boise State leaves, the WAC will have one year left on their ESPN contract. Unless ESPN pulls the plug early, it may still be in Tech's best interests to stay in the WAC at least for that second year. If and when Tech needs to leave the WAC, the SBC may be their only option, maybe not. Every team in the SBC would move to CUSA given the opportunity. Tech is no different. The WAC with Boise State is a better conference than the SBC, so this year there is an advantage to remaining there. I think that is all LA Tech is saying at this point. And, with all the rumblings going on in the Big 12 about the inequality of the payouts, I suspect reallignment is not over and there will still be major changes in the next 2-3 years. I would love to have LA Tech in our conference. But, unless they are forced out of the WAC, they don't need to do anything for a year or two. We may all be reassessing our options by then.

Unlike some people my loyalty to Tech is not conditional. I will not beat my chest on fan boards and loudly announce that I will withdraw my monetary support if we become members of certain conferences.

The WAC is the best situation for us at this time. But anyone who thinks the WAC is improving itself is delusional. Adding UTSA, Texas State, or Montana is not an improvement. Might as well invite Northwestern State and SFA while we are at it. I have repeatedly stated that I would love for the WAC to become a 12 team league. I enjoy playing Fresno and Nevada. I have several friends that played at Nevada. I think the WAC should be having discussion with UNT, ULL, ASU, and at least one additional school to create an EWAC.

The Sun Belt is currently the least regarded conference in FBS. But the WAC is regarded as the least stable conference in FBS. We both have the same problem, really crappy commissioners.

Being respectful of other people is not sucking up. I am a fan of college football. If there is a game on, I will watch it. I have been known to show up at UNT or SMU games, since there are only 20 minutes from my house when not in Ruston. I like to know what is going on with lots of schools. I do not subscribe to the idea that the best way to build up your program is to tear others down.

That will cover the 2010 and 2011 season. Barring any additional changes in 2012 we play in Hawaii. That allows us 13 games. 7 conference games and 3 OOC games are already scheduled (at Houston, vs Army and vs USM). Only 3 of the conference games are away. We have 3 additional openings that we could use to schedule some additional games. 5 games already at home plus a possible 3 more for money purposes or additional home games for ticket sales. Who knows.

And every EagerEagle post bashes Tech. What does that get him? A bad reputation and an audience that immediately ignores anything he says. I have spent a year crashing his party and he is still an a-hole. Nothing is going to change that. Why waste the effort?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

You consider EagerEagle an a-hole because he, unlike most guys on this board who just offer their opinions, backs up his statements with links and facts proving many arrogant Tech fans are either totally ignorant or else blatant liars. Last example was when a Tech fan bragged about Tech doubling their budget over past six years with most of the increase coming from fans and donations. I quoted the state auditors figures that showed the budget had indeed been doubled to $16mil but over $8mil of that was state taxpayer suppliments. About $6mil of the $8mil increase was taxpayer supps therefore the Techster either lied or was ignorant of the amounts when he said the increase was mostly fan supports and donations. My statements about Tech arent bashing, only quoting documented numbers to deflate their ignorant egos. In my OPIION this "endzone" project just announced is nothing but a complex of offices, academic rooms, meeting rooms, etc in a building that BACKS UP TO THE south end zone. They arent connected to the stadium except by sidewalks but was designed this way, no seating except a few club seats, for a purpose. Nine million has been pledged from their heavy hitters with twelve million to go, past experience at fund raising has been poor at best. They were one of last few schools to finally get a video board and it was accomplished only by the Louisiana Tech University Foundation BORROWING the money for the project, they still owe for it. This is how you do a lot with a little, just borrow. Final plans are to collect as much as possible and then, due to its layout, go to state legislature for the money by pointing out it is mostly an academic and administrative facility, rather than sports, therefore qualifing for funding. Bookmark this and check back in a couple of years.

Borrowing isn't a bad way to fund projects. Arkansas State's booster club borrowed the money for our video board and used the income from it to make the payments. Unless something really bad has happened since I left the booster club board of directors, the thing is paid off this season and except for routine maintenance all ad income starting in 2011 is profit.

I'm not terribly opposed to government funds going into athletics. Such funds initially built a stadium for LSU and two for Arkansas (plus a basketball arena), I believe Texas A&M's arena was partially or totally government funded. If the big boys can get a helping hand from government why shouldn't we all?

Even eager eagle's beloved Golden Eagles take a full million from the tax-payers of Mississippi.

His hill to die on is very particular, specific, and extremely subjective.

And state funding is absolutely necessary when that state makes it illegal to charge student fees to fund athletics. I appreciate every penny Eager Eagle sends to Tech, but I do agree with him that he shouldn't be helping fund Tech's athletics. Louisiana should make student fees legal.

A&M's arena would have to be multi-purpose as by law state funds can't be used for athletic venues. UNT's Super Pit is a multi-purpose venue.
