No UCA-ASU
Coach Brady said on a local show today that Corliss refused his offer to start playing.

I'd have guessed that he'd want to play ASU or the Trojans.

That's strange. I would think UCA would have everything to gain and nothing to lose. It would be like Arkansas inviting UALR or ASU to play,(in your dreams) and being turned down.04-cheers

You only have something to gain if you think you can win is apparently the theory.

My guess is Brady offered Corliss a game in Jonesboro. I don't know for sure, but I think UALR has offered UCA a game in Little Rock, but refused to play home and home. No reason for UALR or ASU to agree to play UCA home and home. You have to earn that. As a fan I'd like to see it, but I can understand where ASU and UALR are coming from.

I agree with you MJS. I bet you correctly sized up the situation.

Actually folks on the ASU site say Brady offered a home and home. UCA AD wanted to do it, but Corliss reportedly turned it down. Hard to believe. Maybe Corliss got confused and thinks he is coaching the Chickenhawgs.

It's the beginning of big things to come at UCA.

It was a home/home offer.

If it hadn't been for New Orleans, we'd have finished at the bottom of the barrel, and we're to good to play UCA home and home? UCA has to earn that? I don't have any problem with playing UCA at Conway. Maybe the pigs will play us when we earn it. Playing UCA in Conway is just another game I can see. I don't think we're that good yet. Hell, we can't even beat Harding.

I think it's ridiculous we don't play UCA home and home now that they're D1. It gives our fans, basically another home game. Plus our travel expenses to Conway would be practically nil. In these economic times, some games closer to home makes a lot of sense.04-cheers

We've played Eastern Illinois home and home. I like a couple vans and sleep in your own bed vs. a flight and a hotel.

If UCA has decided not to schedule ASU or UALR, truth be known, I would bet the farm that uaf in some way is a factor in that decision. If uaf ever schedules an in-state team, it will be UCA or UAPB, not UALR or ASU. As for UALR, fear shouldn't be an issue. No D-1 team would be afraid to play a team that loses at home to Harding.

I can hear the phone conversation now... "Coach Williamson, hey, Jeff Long here. You know those pesky Wed Woofs? Wouldn't it be cool if you guys refused to play them too..? Great. Knew I could count on you to toe the line. WPS."

I kind of doubt this is a Fayetteville plot. However, having played up there its not surprising that Corliss would not see any value in playing in State college teams. He obviously never played one in college.
