Hey cretv, what is that picture of? It looks like your mascot trying to kick a guy into a big hole while some Taliban (with burqua) and one guy with no shirt are walking around with bows and arrows strapped to their backs, lol. What the f is that?

I see FAU has started the athletic village concept, or am incorrect?

yeah it is suppose to have room to grow, I am not sure to what size max cap.

And yes, the construction photo way above is one of photos of Innovation Village which is underway, more can be seen at...

I hope the owls break ground on the stadium this year so the state of florida doesn't have to keep paying for yearly revisions of the stadium renderings. 05-stirthepot

RE: FAU's Official Stadium Renderings
The state throws a monkey wrench in the works?

excerpt:

Quote:...This “functional relationship” is a new guideline, and why FAU had to yank its stadium plan until this was worked out.

Before the guideline was proposed, FAU was saying the stadium was a benefit for the entire campus, and fit in with the overall plan of creating a more traditional campus in Boca Raton, with more dorms meaning more students living on campus and fewer commuters.

Thus, using the $12 million from sale of dorm development rights was OK since it fit in with the overall plan.

Not anymore. FAU figures $5 million will get in under the “functional relationship” guideline when you add in the infrastructure that the dorms and stadiums will share.

So the task now is to figure out how to come up with the rest of the money.

Kian is confident FAU will get it done. Going to take some creative financing, but FAU is hoping to it can pull this off.

They have about a month to do it...

Yeah,

FAU knew they were changing the bonding rules so they decided to delay thier vote on the financing plan untill they saw what the rules are.

For once this delay isnt on FAU. Its on the BOG who are changing the playing field for how the money gets used.

Still frustrating no matter whos to blame. AND FAU should of had this done last year and then it wouldnt of been an issue.

Honestly once it dips below 70 we do break out long shirts and hoodies. If youve lived here your whole life the blood is thin to be sure. I have gotten my fireplace going once it gets into the low 60's.

I visited my wifes relatives in Mass one summer. It was really hot, so I asked if they could turn on the AC. They told me they only had a window unit in thier main bedroom.

I had no idea that houses could even be MADE without a central air unit. Every home has them here.

So is there a new timeline with the BOG change, or is it on indefinite hiatus?

Now that the rules are in place and FAU knows for sure what they are the new "Dates to Remember" are:

July 21st: Next FAU board meeting where they should "officially" approve the plan and send it up to the BOG for the state. All indication are that this is a rubber stamp on FAU's end.

Sept ???: I cant recall the next meeting but its whenever the States BOG meets to approve FAU's budget proposal for the stadium. I BELIEVE this process should be a rubber stamp as well but one never knows. It certainly doesnt hurt to have Frank Brogan heading it up.

FAU keeps saying that if the BOG approves in Sept that the stadium WILL be open for our first home game in 2011. That would mean they would get construction done in just under a year. I kind of dobut it but well see.

I do know that they have been doing as many behind the scenes thing as they can that dont require dirt being moved. So they should have all the permits etc. in place.

Keep your fingers crossed.
