He'll have 3. I just hope he doesn't end up like Theryn Hudson, our oft-injured big man who rarely saw the court pat his freshman year.

We supposedly "stole" Hudson from South Carolina, being that he was a local product.

Been a looong time since we've had a guy that tall on our squad. Last I remember is a skinny white dude named Mike Frost in the early 80's. I never remember a 7-footer, although I think we had a couple in the early 70's.

It was made official today that we also are getting 6-9 230 lb. Iowa State transfer LaRon Dendy. Averaged 7 points and about 4 rebounds for the Cyclones last season.

He'll have just one year remaining, after he sits out a year.

OH, THIS IS BASKETBALL. I was like holy crap, two skinny guys THAT tall? Sounds like you should let them stand in the red zone and lob it in their general direction. Talk about a slam dunk!

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - LaRon Dendy will transfer to Middle Tennessee for the 2010-11 season after playing one season at Iowa State as announced by head coach Kermit Davis.
Dendy, a 6-9, 230-pound forward, averaged 7.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game as the Cyclones' top reserve in the post. The Greenville, S.C., native shot 60 percent (69-115) from the field which is the sixth-best single-season field goal percentage total in school history. A very athletic player, Dendy ended the season sixth in the Big 12 in blocked shots.

Against No. 1 Texas, Dendy's first Big 12 game, he recorded 14 points and grabbed six rebounds. In Iowa State's upset over No. 5 Kansas, Dendy scored 10 points after going 5 for 5 from the field and pulled down three rebounds.

"We are very excited to have LaRon join Middle Tennessee basketball. LaRon is an unbelievable kid who has a great work ethic. He is extremely athletic, had some great games in the Big 12 and was a highly recruited high school player," Davis said. "LaRon felt it was in his best interest to go to a school where he could redshirt. We plan to give him the best redshirt year he could possibly have to come back for a tremendous senior season and compete for a championship."

Prior to attending Iowa State, Dendy played two years at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa and was rated as the 57th-best player in the preseason 2008-09 Juco Junction rankings.

"I think it will be a great move for me. The coaches and community at Middle Tennessee are very supportive and I am looking forward to joining the team. I will be able to work hard, improve my game and compete for a championship," Dendy said. "I also like that Middle Tennessee is closer to home so my mom can come watch me play which she couldn't do when I was at Iowa State."

Dendy played high school at New Hope Christian where he was ranked as one of the top power forwards in the Class of 2007. Rivals.com ranked him as the 63rd-best player in the nation and the 17th-best power forward.

Due to the transfer rule, Dendy will have to sit out the 2010-11 season and will be eligible to play beginning with the 2011-12 season with one year of eligibility remaining.
