ULM Lands #30 ranked DT in Gerrand Johnson
ULM lands one of the biggest recruits in history in Gerrand Johnson. Johnson had OFFERS from Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska, Mississippi St., Missouri, Memphis, and la tech. He is ranked the #30 best DT in the country by Scout. Louisiana is rich with talent this year and hopefully this will get more local talent to stay home at ULM.

So, what gives? Did he have grade issues etc? Or, was this a legitimate snatch from the big boys? Either way, a great catch. We've picked up a few at MT because they didn't qualify at an SEC school because of grades and I'm not knocking it, just curious.

No, he will actually graduate EARLY and can participate in Spring Drills. We plain out beat them. He is quoted as saying that ULM just stood up above the rest. Leon Lett as his DL coach can't hurt either. Berry is really recruiting well and starting to get the local recruits. 02-13-banana02-13-banana02-13-banana02-13-banana02-13-banana

The Warhawk faithful have been blown away by the quality of commitments for 2011 that Berry has brought in so far, as well as the ones that are considering ULM (and they all seem to have their grades in order!). Berry looks like he's going to make that ill-fated Army stint a footnote in his career and not let it define him. We'll see if that happens over the next 2-3 years.

It's getting very interesting in Monroe.

That "Sweep the Swamp" will convert almost anybody! I wonder how many of them he had?

Good grab by ULM. The more talent we bring in as a conference, the easier it will be in the future to recruit. Like a snowball. 04-cheers

RE: ULM Lands #30 ranked DT in Gerrand Johnson
A telling quote from the young man and something that all the SBC schools should be pursuing.

"I took all the glamor and glitter that all these big schools were offering and I found out they are all the same", said Johnson "It's more fulfilling to me to get to the top than to start on the top. I want to build my own house at ULM, not be apart of something someone else built".

Success for the conference, more bowl games and more bowl wins, kids who are starting to see that they can come, compete, and play should see more and more athletes committing to SBC schools. New stadiums at NT and FAU, new turf at ASU.....man, I almost feel giddy about the future!! :)

Just to clarify.....this turf is a replacement turf due to water damage.
We converted from grass to turf a few seasons ago.
