You haven't mentioned that UNT doesn't have a bowling team. Maybe you can start another thread on that.

RE: schools who have committed
NT building an estimated $78m stadium in this day and time, sounds like a pretty big commitment. Add to that a new athletic center, volleyball facility, softball stadium, tennis center, soccer stadium, football practice fields in the last five year plus a swimming facility a couple years before and it sounds like NT is at least trying.
I may be wrong but I doubt any other Belt school can match those investments in a similar period. As noted above, NT certainly needed the facilities. Every team in the Belt and probably NCAA FB Division is heavily involved in what I think is a foolish sports arms race. I imagine that NT will follow this up with the planned baseball program and new track and field facilities and the in vogue indoor football practice facilities. The relative new push for tier 1 academic status will not hurt the program either.
Every team in the Belt has plenty of warts but I think all are doing everything they can to compete. Some in these difficult financial times are going to have a rough time keeping up. Texas schools are probably in a slightly better circumstances because they already are barred from using state funds for athletics. The bigger schools are going to have advantages inasmuch as their access to student funds is much greater. Teams like our Louisiana friends that rely heavily on state funds may be in for some lean years. I really hated to see UNO fall by the athletic wayside and I really hope that all the conference schools can continue to prosper, no matter what future affiliation they have.

Go to the above site to see what our committment is for football.
And as Grandgreen noted, North Texas will begin it drive to add baseball as soon as the new football stadium is completed. I noticed you didn't show basketball facilities in which I would consider NT's one of the best in the conference.

No need in showing basketball facilities. I was just touching on the facilities that every belt school has put money in that NT fans seem to think only they have. Don't ask who is making the commitment when you are just now starting to. Most belt teams are ahead of NT in the fact we made our improvements years ago.

Better to start a thread on having a sport then starting one about not having one.

At least for baseball ULM's facility is very nice and should be pictured.

But do you have a bowling team?
Hey don't encourage them to add bowling unless they plan to be a national power, we don't need anyone pulling us down with poor strength of schedule.

Surely you are not saying that the Belt school with the longest history in the highest classification of NCAA athletics is just now getting around to catching up with the other Belt teams. I bet none of the Belt teams factilites compared favorably with NT in the 1960's. Before you laugh that one off, you might want to consider the point you have just made. Frankly no one cares what NT's status was fifty years ago anymore than they are concerned with what ASU had or didn't have five years ago. The only thing that matters is what each school currently offers or is expected to have in the near future.

Actually the Cajuns have the longest uninterrupted history in the highest classification.

That's a misleading post. His point wasn't that it was the longest uninterrupted, it was that it was the longest. Period.
You aren't correcting his statement.

But UNT couldn't and shouldn't have been expected to have made any significant facility upgrades 1982-1995 other than the investment in the extra bleachers to get back to I-A.
