4 ULL Players Arrested on Drug Charges

Four Louisiana-Lafayette football players have been arrested Monday by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office after police found eight small marijuana plants growing on the balcony of their apartment.

The Daily Advertiser reported that sophomore quarterback Blaine Gautier, sophomore cornerback Rodney Gillis, junior linebacker Devon Lewis-Buchanan and junior strong safety Chris Richard were booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. The paper reported that all but Richard had been released Tuesday on a $20,000 bond.

Coach Rickey Bustle released a statement Tuesday saying that all four players had been disciplined. "Blaine Gautier, Rodney Gillis, Devon Lewis-Buchanan and Chris Richard have been suspended indefinitely from the football team pending a thorough review of the facts by the athletic department,” Bustle said. “The athletic department will have no further comment until the review has been finalized."



According to the paper, a search warrant for the apartment was issued after a neighbor noticed the plants on the balcony and called the police. None of the players were home when the search was conducted.

Of the group, only Lewis-Buchanan is a projected starter. Gautier is the backup quarterback and Gillis and Richard are listed as third stringers.

They should have waited a day, it would of been worse to get arrested for marijuana on 420 day.
