Utah And Colorado to the Pac-10 is a Done Deal?
by Jeremy Mauss on Apr 20, 2010 9:55 AM PDT in Football 12 comments

According to ESPN radio host Colin Cowherd he said that Utah and Colorado is a done deal to join the Pac-10. I expect a lot of expansion gossip to happen including U Conn to the Big 10 with the BCS meetings starting today. Not sure who Cowheard's source is, but unless the Pac-10 is doing the complete opposite of the Big 10 then Larry Scott of the Pac-10 is doing a good job of keeping it very quiet. It is known that the only two candidates that fit the Pac-10 academically is Utah and Colorado.

So I'm completely "duh" when it comes to all this expansion talk. What does that mean for us, the SBC? Once all these big conferences get the teams they wan't CUSA, SBC, and WAC will be realigned and/or raided?

Colin Cowherd says a lot of things. He may be right this time, though.

Colin Cowherd also said no way in Hell would Nick Saban go to Alabama and said Alabama was a has been that wouldn't ever be back. Not saying he is wrong about this, but I will need more than his word.

I thought that possibly a conference or two may jump the Big Televen gun, and go ahead and expand before them, to get ahead of the chase.

You can bet SEC and others making plans, too.

If it is these two then the MWC will move on Boise to replace Utah to keep some simbalance of an AQ bid alive.

The Colorodo move probably forces the B-12 to add a program; I've always liked TCU here but others say there's no point as the B-12 already owns the Dallas market. Maybe BYU decides to petition for an invite as Utah and Colorodo have made the move to the P12, they would be the only big fish left in the Mountain time-zone. I do think the B-12 goes after a MWC school (either TCU or BYU) not a C-USA. The MWC then needs to replace one of those and goes after a Fresno St or Nevada.

As you can see, the MWC is devistated as is the WAC. C-USA probably passes them both and the Sun Belt should pass the WAC.

It's hard to foresee anything else as the other shoe still needs to drop in the B10.

If Boise is offered a spot to the MWC is there any reason they wouldn't accept?
