Horrible timing by Early. Quitting on the day that the spring signing period begins and only for an assistant position? Unforgivable.

I wonder if he plans on being an assistant long term? Because stunts like this can definitely limit future gigs. Good luck to ULM in getting a good hire.

One year left on the contract, and ULM didn't want to buy him out.

Looks like a win/win for both.

My sources say ULM cant pay more than 135K for the new guy.

Are we witnessing another UNO?

The fact that I know more about your athletic program than you do is a real kick in the testicles, isnt it......

Being that our new BBall coach makes more than your football coach was hired for I think you should really take a better look at your programs.

Zee you couldn't be more correct.

It seems his rumor has some merit if one candidate is a HS Coach would it not?

No, you're not. You know as well as everyone does that UNO is a wholly different situation. Early had actually been offered this job two years ago and turned it down. But now he's gone and ULM is looking at the possibilities. We have some names in the mix that we'd be quite happy with if they are interviewed and offered. As to the high school coach, we'd love to have him but we also want him to get some college level experience first in recruiting and being an assistant. I doubt he'll get the job but lucky will be the university that gets him someday.

BTW, we didn't make such a big deal about your BB coaching situation, mainly because we didn't care. Why do you?

the high school coach thing has worked pretty well for us in the past...why not consider it with one of the most sucessful HS coaches in the area?

Should have known the ULL homers would come out flaming.

I'm not flaming, just stating that it would seem the $135,000 number would have some merit if one candidate is indeed a HS coach. In any case, best of luck.

untgeorge mentioned it on GoMeanGreen, and I wish I'd thought of it myself... Any chance ULM goes after Pasternak from UNO? The guy is a pretty damn good coach, and quite a recruiter to get anyone, much less some of the high caliber players (I'm thinking of Blair and McGhee, specifically) to commit to UNO in the past 2 years.

Any chance they'd go after him?

If they have more money to offer, then I would think he would listen. Pasternak has his share of connections around college basketball and he is making more then Early was at ULM. ULM needs to find some money through private avenues to help secure a quality candidate with a proven track record.
