Six teams from AQ conferences will be playing AT belt schools this year. Isn't this the highest number of any one season ? A 7th was moved to Detroit but is considered as a FAU home game
Minnesota at Middle Tennessee, Sept. 2
Rutgers at Florida International, Sept. 11
Michigan State at Florida Atlantic Sept. 11 (Being played in Detroit)
Indiana at Western Kentucky, Sept. 18
Louisville at Arkansas State, Oct. 2
Oklahoma State at Louisiana-Lafayette, Oct. 8
Kansas State at North Texas, Nov. 27

Don't forget about FAU's "home" game against Michigna St.
I know that FAU has an off-campus stadium, but this commute is ridiculous.

I still don't understand why Troy doesn't get teams like this at home. Yeah we have Mississippi State in 2012. However, the last time an AQ came to Troy was Oklahoma State in 07. It took us 5 years?? When MTSU and others can get AQ teams year in and year out.

TROY has gained a reputation for being hard to beat at home and there haven't been any takers, outside of the SBC, lately. We have Navy, Miss. St., BGSU, which is a Non-AQ, but give 'em credit...I'm sure Steve Dennis is doing his best, but you can't make them come down to the Gallery if they don't wanna...they know what they'll get...

Mehhh...could be one of the factors, true enough, but when you beat teams like, Marshall (pretty hot team at the time), Okie St. (he was a man and we hung 40+ on 'em) from the Big 12, at home, the opportunities cool off really fast. Don't get me wrong, you take the Trojans out of Troy and it's a crap shoot, but over the last 5 or six years, they've only dropped 4 games at home, that I can remember...the majority of those were against SBC teams.

USA has Navy and Miss St. coming to Mobile in the next few seasons. Substitute NC State for BGSU and there all of our scheduled OOC FBS opponents in the next five years (of which only two will the Jags be FBS).

It'd be nice if TROY and South had a JV game set up in the next year or two so that the rivalry would have a start, before y'all get to the FB$ level...

Yeah location has something to do with it, but not much. There is NOTHING to do in Auburn just like Troy... Gainesville was boring... When we went to the NIT at Ole Miss there was nothing there in Oxford and it didn't look much bigger than Troy. Troy isn't that "middle of no where" like most people think. Heck BGSU was really in the middle of no where!!! Yeah Cincy and Toledo are nearby, but so are Montgomery and Dothan to Troy.
You're going for a football game not a 5 star hotel vacation....

Location has a lot to do with it; expecially for out of state teams who recruit in the area. FIU and FAU will always be able to schedule out of state AQ schools who want a South Florida presence for recruiting.

I would have been for that, but last year or this year probably would've been the year for that. We may play you guys in 2011, but will definitely in 2012 I believe. It's just around the corner. Looking forward to it.

RE: FB: AQ's playing AT Belt Schools
MSU was supposed to open our new stadium this year. Obviously not going to happen and Im sure they balked at Lockhart.
Our AD approached them with the idea of having it be a "home" game at Fords Field with FAU getting the gate.
Sucks to have only 4 TRUE home games but smart from a financial standpoint. FAU hopes to net about 2 Million from the gate.
