Political posting on sports forum makes CBS News
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-2...03544.html
A poster on texags.com (Texas A&M sports fan site) claims he had to lay off someone in his office (he goes by the monikor dermdoc) due to Obama's policies, so he decided to lay off someone who voted for the Prez. The story seems to smell of urban mythology and the thread has been taken off texags.com, but CBS picked up on it anyway.

Quote:"Elections have consequences," wrote dermdoc. "If you vote for someone who raises my taxes and lowers my income, you pay the cost."
Obama wants his union cronies to be able to bully people based on how they vote. What's the difference?

I am in a union and hate it. The union is helping destroy this particular industry (sort of like they helped set the auto industry in a death spiral). Please don't get me started on unions.
But I just don't understand why this poster would fire someone and brag about it online, if it was true. They better be able to show just cause for dismissal; otherwise, I would think a lawsuit will ensue. Hell a lawsuit will probably occur anyway.
Also, with HIPA policies protecting doctor-patient relationships being so strict, shouldn't there be some sort of rule protecting doctor-employee relationships?

I read the story twice, and it seems to read that the employee was laid off, not fired. Since Texas is an at will employment state, that is an important distinction.

Quote:"Business owners and the 'rich' are not going to pay for Obamacare, the middle class is. We will cut costs via layoffs and raise prices or find someway to pass on the costs ot YOU."
This is what the left rarely figures out when it comes to massive government programs and 'screw the rich' initiatives. But class warfare makes for clever politics.
That said, it must be a slow news day when CBS is fishing political message boards on sports sites for material.

The poster recanted, btw..
Quote:Time to fess up
there was no layoff of anyone at my office.
Any of you reddit dweebs can check my employment records or call my office on Monday.
IT WAS ALL A TROLL!
I was merely making a hypothetical because of frustration with decreased reimbursements and future increased taxes.
It is really hard to believe that simply by posting a topic on the internet that I could make newspapers, several national talk radio talk shows-WITHOUT ANY VERIFICATION.
Whatever. What has the US become when you have entire web sites of people sitting around just waiting to screw with people and their families without even checking out the source.
Granted, all of this is my fault but any "Ag" who would screw with other Ags or this website because of one unverified post needs to seriously check out their life.
All you lefties can call off the preemptive strikes on me or my family, my wife actually was the one who made me do this because she feared for our safety.
I am done.

Which is good, if this is accurate...
Quote:A person who has authority over another in the scope of employment who retaliates against that person in their voting by subjecting or threatening a loss or reduction of wages or other benefit of employment because the employee voted for or against a candidate or measure or refused to reveal how he or she voted commits a third degree felony offense. Harming or threatening to harm a voter by an unlawful act in retaliation against a voter is a third degree felony offense. TEX ELEC CODE ANN. § 276.001.

And I'm disappointed CBS passed up the chance to brand him a racist, based on his posts expressing regret that he'd have to fill the slot with a foreigner.

Well I'll apologize for making reference to it when the CBS story is 4 days old (and way out of touch with the current status). But I will say I found it through news.google.com as it was one of their top stories a few hours ago.
So what does that tell you about Google?
