BCS Bashing time
I am affectionately anointing this week as “BCS Bash Week.” On my blog, I will attack the cartel disguised as the Bowl Championship Series for the next four days.
Mark it down: collegefootballhaven12.blogspot.com
The four part series will include the following:
1. Tuesday: The Scam
2. Wednesday: The Cover-up
3. Thursday: The Evidence
4. Friday: The Solution
I have made significant research while preparing each day’s topic to ensure that I present accurate information and that I make substantiated assertions. I am not simply venting. I know your time is valuable, and I have ensured that each topic has enough substance that reading it will not be a waste of time.
Come back each day as we bash the BCS.

I'll pass, thanks.
Good luck blog flogging, though. Thanks for including our forum in a self-promotional online saturation bombing campaign.

I apologize for offending you with my self-promotion. Of course, I would stop if you were willing to make a financial contribution to my cause so I could advertise in a more "traditional" way.

RE: BCS Bashing time
I've been skimming the pieces. I think you are huntin' the wrong trail. The BCS never was and never has been about "the best" teams, "the best" leagues, or even crowning a national champion.
The sole purpose of the BCS is to maximize revenue within the presidentially imposed constraint of not having a playoff.
The BCS leagues COULD get the same dollars without including the other five leagues, they concede that 9%-18% of revenue to reduce the relatively weak possibility of a legal challenge and the much stronger challenge of being seen as closed to the potential cinderella team.
Do a search for Nielsen TV markets and add up the percentages of markets where the Big East and the of late weaker ACC are and compare them to the MWC. The BCS Six are the BCS Six because they command strong market presence in virtually every major television market not because they are the strongest six conferences.
The BCS interest in crowning a champion is not for the purpose of declaring a champion like the NCAA Bowling Tournament, or NCAA Softball College World Series does, but is purely a marketing element to make the game more attractive to television.
Personally I believe the BCS sometime around 2012 will modify itself once again. The old bowl ties will renew for the new agreement (2014-2017) (ie Rose will return to B10 v. P10, SEC to Sugar, B12 to Fiesta or Cotton, ACC to Orange) with the two best left standing playing a championship game. The first dent in the playoff armor. I think you will see some lesser paying bowls come under the umbrella so that every league champion goes to a BCS affiliated game. Now it may well be that the GMAC is a BCS bowl and most years hosts Sun Belt champ vs. MAC champ but the payout will be say $3 million.

ArkStFan,
I completely agree with you, and that is the trail I am trying to hunt. The problem is they say it is about those other things, so I have been trying to build a case to show that those excuses are completely illogical and no one should buy into them. Otherwise it is just pointing fingers and making accusations.
I like what you say about the future of bowls, and it is similar to what I proposed in my solution (the fourth part of the series posted today). I think it would be imperative to keep the championship game open until after the bowls because it wasn't until after the bowls everyone was willing to vote Utah number 2 last year and Boise State was able to show it was better than TCU this year, and should get a shot at the title.
