Mascot to be announced Tuesday 4/6
By Ben Huber April 2, 2010
The search for the College of William and Mary’s new mascot is coming to an end. After 16-months, the winning concept will be unveiled Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at an event in Kaplan Arena.
“The project is completed [and] the rest is in the school’s hands,” a representative for Torch Creative, the firm hired by the College to design the mascot, said.

College athletic director Terry Driscoll confirmed last week that the project was nearly complete, but was just awaiting trademarking issues.

Meet the Griffin.
William & Mary's Griffin is a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of an eagle. The coat of arms of King William and Queen Mary was adorned with lions, and the lion's body of our mascot evokes our historic royal founding and early history. The eagle's head of the Griffin suggests the national symbol of the United States and represents the presidents, leaders, and productive citizens whom William & Mary has trained for centuries.
