Always give updates on Pioneer skiing and hockey.

Arkansas State selected for its third consecutive NCAA Bowling Tournament. Big streak on the line, have never been defeated in the tournament by anyone other than the eventual national champion. Last year Nebraska in first round, year before MD-Eastern Shore in the title round.

Water skiing and bass fishing aren't NCAA sports.

We at least get Director's Cup points.

All of the Sun Belt schools have "different" sports of which they are good at. Troy for example is very good in Men's and Women's Rodeo.

ASU men's rugby is a national power but it's not an NCAA sanctioned sport.

++++++++++++++++++++++++
Congrats to the ASU bowling team. I would prefer watching bowling over
soccer anytime of the day. On TV I remember seeing some college
bowling competition-----I can't remember if they referred to any of
the teams as representing mid-majors.

Why is rugby not an NCAA sport ? I think that if the NCAA and national
sports media got involved---rugby could become a major college sporting
event, with good attendance numbers. Maybe they could get away
from the BCS labeling, and even have a true playoff system.

RE: Since Denver fans
Women's rugby is an emerging sport but few schools want to sanction it as men's sport, especially if they have football because it is hard to balance out for Title IX. Plus there is a historic element. The violence of early football (and a number of deaths) of the more rugby-like version of football is what led to the creation of the NCAA to avoid an outright ban or Federal regulation of the game under President Teddy Roosevelt.
