The Sun Belt is Thriving
As we know, the 2010 Census is being tabulated. Here's a map of population growth since 2000. Sun Belt growth has been lead by Texas, Florida and Tennessee. Arkansas, Kentucky and Alabama had nice growth, however, the great state of Louisiana had none (no doubt due to Katrina).

This will lead to more money and more represenation come the next election cycle.

RE: The Sun Belt is Thriving
I can attest that the city of Lafayette has grown a lot. Each time I go there, traffic is worse and new building are going up.

Lafayette is a pretty big "little city", much like Murfreesboro.

I had a friend who was in Bowling Green recently that said he couldn't believe the growth there.

Our universities in the 'Boro, Acadiana, and BG (among others) just need to tap into that new market. We have done a poor job of that at MT, in my opinion (except in maybe football).

Damn........... that's a lot of folks in Florida-- 18+ million --for not such a large land area (and I'm sure most live on the coast).

RE: The Sun Belt is Thriving
I still find it odd how sparsely populated Arkansas is.....Mississippi, Kansas, Nebraska and West Virginia are the nearest, most comparable states.
