Coaching Changes
We are past due on this topic. Jacobson and Marshall are being discussed. Lowery looks safe for another year.

Here is an interesting article.

I think UNI better find a way to come up with more $$$.

RE: Coaching Changes
Coach Jacobsen will be a steal for UNI if they can keep him. Why would he leave for Iowa though?

IF he were to leave, I see it more as a domino effect than anything else... mid level BCS coach takes promotion leaving program on the rise for Coach Jacobsen to step in and continue (ie taking over for McDermott).

Don't see him or Coach Marshall leaving for a program in the swallows. Especially Coach Marshall who has turned down many offers from BCS schools.

RE: Coaching Changes
UNI's $450,000 deal to Jacobson with $25,000 yearly pay increases seems pretty meaningless except as a goodwill gesture.

RE: Coaching Changes
I hate getting our asses kicked every year by Jacobsen's teams, but I hope he thinks long and hard about leaving a very nice situation at UNI. I have two words for him: Todd Lickliter.

Keeping our good coaches will be a key to getting back to where we were in 2006. I hope we can get back there, but I gotta think that next year, the at-large bids going to mids will be virtually non-existant...

But I read somewhere that the buyout in his new contract is seven figures. So if he does leave, the money will be there to hire a decent replacement.

RE: Coaching Changes
Jacobson seems to be happy at UNI. Has a pretty good rep as best team in state, and has much less pressure than McDermott, Lickliter, Alford, or any other mid to high jump coach does. Especially considering the success Turgeon has had, the immediate money doesn't mean as much as job security.

Expect more to follow the Turgeon path vs. the Alford/McDermott path.

RE: Coaching Changes
Wichita State does end up losing a coach to Clemson. Assistant Coach Earl Grant has accepted a similar position at Clemson.

RE: Coaching Changes
When I posted this thread I would of placed Altman as the 6th ranked possiblity of not being around next year.
