IMHO JJ stays at UNT waiting for the LSU call.

The source knows JJ well through his days at LSU and AAU ball. Barkley has already had conversations with JJ, it remains to be seen if he will officially interview.

BTW, if Johnson leaves LSU JJ with have to battle Ok.State assistant Butch Pierre for that position. Pierre has recruited the best of Louisiana over the past decade and continues to do so now. It's not a given he will get the LSU job.

Auburn

UNT coach should interview in next few days

North Texas head coach Johnny Jones is a candidate for the same position at Auburn and will likely interview for the job in the next few days, multiple sources close to the situation said Monday.

Jones led UNT to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the last four seasons this year by winning the Sun Belt Conference tournament and the league’s automatic bid. The Mean Green was the No. 15 seed in the West Region and fell to Kansas State in the first round on Thursday.

Jones has a 150-121 record in nine seasons at UNT. The Mean Green finished 24-9, won the Sun Belt Conference West Division title and tied for the overall league regular season championship this season.

Auburn is seeking a replacement for Jeff Lebo, who was not retained after the Tigers finished 15-17 last season and fell to Florida in the SEC tournament. Lebo posted a 96-93 record in six seasons with the Tigers.

Jones signed a contract extension on Feb. 19 that stretched his deal with UNT though the 2014-15 season. The new deal boosted Jones’ base salary to $200,000 in addition to increasing his incentives.

A $100,000 bonus that was due Jones on May 31, 2012 was increased $50,000 and redistributed throughout the six years of the deal.

Auburn is opening a new $92.5 million basketball arena prior to next season. Lebo signed a contract extension that paid him a salary of $750,000 annually in March 2005 after his first season with the Tigers.

Like Zee said, the source is legit. You guys at UNT should know these things about your own program, whats the deal?

What's the deal ? Seems like we did find out from a local source (reporter) not too long after Z mentioned something here. It was found out soon enough.

tsk, tsk...I presented the info at least 7-8 hours before your guy posted. Look everyone on this board plays rough. We are just giving you guys a hard time. I think every mid major in America should strive to have their coaches move up to better jobs. Look, if JJ rolls into Auburn, SFA's Kaspar is an excellent replacement.

Good luck,

Z

Good luck,

Z

ps allegedly... 03-wink

tsk, tsk we don't lurk around our coaches hoping to find out tidbits or try to cultivate sources to pass on "psst, did you know poop". We know the info will come out, even if it's a few hours later. We will, however, send you a gold star for your scoop on this poop04-bow

A Gold Star!!! Awesome. Once the season plays out, I'll let you know who your new football coach is gonna be. 04-cheers

LOL!!!04-rock

Wouldn't you want to first find out who your new coach is gonna be ? Glass houses, etc. You guys making the trip up to Denton this fall ? Last chance to see a game at Fouts.....

Easy, old boy!!! We(myself, mg61 and CajunT) are just one upping each other in the sarcasm dept. No harm, no foul. I'll probably make the trip up to Denton. My brother and his family reside in Keller. I went in 08'. Enjoyed myself tremendously.
