Western Kentucky has named Ross Bjork it’s new athletic director, the university announced today.

Bjork takes over for Wood Selig, who left to take the athletic director position at Old Dominion.

Bjork has spent the past five seasons as the senior associate athletic director for development and external relations at UCLA. He has 18 years of intercollegiate athletics experience as an administrator and student-athlete, having also worked on the senior staffs at the University of Miami and the University of Missouri. He also served as assistant development coordinator at Western Kentucky in 1996-97.

“We are very pleased to welcome Ross back to WKU as our new director of athletics,” president Dr. Gary Ransdell said in a statement. “We had an extremely impressive pool of candidates for this position, which speaks to the respect this university and athletic department have nationwide. After narrowing our list of candidates and then conducting interviews in Hot Springs last weekend, it became evident that Ross was unquestionably the best person to lead our athletic program.”

Bjork, 37, is the youngest athletic director among the 120 members in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
