RE: Denver over MT
Excited to see Denver making good progress in the tourney. With only one playing senior, Denver is learning what it takes to beat good teams such as MTSU.

I said it at the beginning of the season. MT Men's Basketball= Exceptional Mediocrity. Kermit, we love you as a person, but this is a 7ish year plateau I'd like to climb up from. When I'm wishing for the NIT, something needs to change.

I really had to do a double take on the score... thought I was seeing things. What happened? I really thought you guys were playing some good ball in january and february. Looked like this might have been the year things fell into place.

Denver went on an extended scoring run in the second half that broke c close game game open, and listening to Kermit Davis on the MTSU postgame show, he said his team "panicked" and "started guarding the wrong way". Denver coach Joe Scott says his team "wore down" MTSU by "doing what we do" (Princeton offense- ball movement/Shot selection). You can choose who you believe, but they are probably both right.

Watching Troy play Denver is very frustrating. I can only imagine how bad it is to actually play against them.

I'm not kidding... MTSU had players out drinking past midnight the night before the game.

I'm sure that didn't help their performance against Denver.

RE: Denver over MT
I heard rumors of UNT fans treating MTSU players to drinks the night before the game. UNT has been begging on its board for the easiest route possible to the NCAA tournament and MTSU was certainly an object in their way

My question is how on earth can Denver be so BAD on the road but look so good at a neutral site where they are outnumbered fan wise 3000-1

Denver is one of the 10-15 youngest teams in all of D-I (last year they were THE youngest team) with only 1 playing senior this year. That's the big reason that road wins have been hard to come by for the Pioneers for the last couple of years. Learning to win on the road is the hardest part of going from an average team to a good team. These young guys on the Denver team have also had to learn one of the most complex playing systems out there, which takes time.

What you are seeing in this tourney is that Denver's team is starting to come of age as they learn what it takes to win and to work within the system. Freshmen are playing like sophs, sophs like juniors and juniors like seniors.

Even if they lose tonight or tomorrow, it's been a good year as they grow, and next year, they should be very tough to beat anywhere.

Too bad you didn't snap some pictures. MTSU fans will pay real money for evidence that gets Kermit fired.
