That makes sense. So we'll put the mythical number at around 18-20 max. It's also a wait and see if any former walk-ons get scholarships.

+1....

I saw that Bama has 95 guys committed to scholarships for 2010-2011, Returning scholarships + Feb commitments. In the South, they do not renew scholarships automatically after the 2nd year. Some of the commitments will not make it academically, some will greyshirt and then .....

Couple random notes:

Wheaton South QB Reilly O'Toole is as good as gone to Kansas. He's from there and his whole family went/goes there. I wonder how many prospects that Chuck Long and KU will take from us this recruiting season.

Naperville North ATH/QB Matt LaCosse got offered by Illinois the other day. It is his first offer. He is 6'6" 220 don't know how he would have fit in our system anyways.

In addition to LaCosse, Illinois has already offered OT Chris Bryant of Simeon and DE James Adeyanju of Curie. Ball State, BGSU & Toledo have offered Adeyanju as well. His older brother played at Indiana, who he just added to his offer list.

Still can't understand what possessed Osei to go there. He'll be totally riding the bench for the next 4 years when the possibility exists he could have been our starter beginning this year.

LaCosse isn't being recruited as a QB by Illinois.

These 2 have excellent speed, (4.58/4.59) and would seem to fit in well on a defense that has to be even more concerned about the pass than the run in a league that is heavily tilted toward throwing the football.

CMU offers Jud Wienke, the 6'4" 225 pro-style QB from down south.

Funny how we passed on LeFevour because we ran a pro-style offense and now we're passing on this guy because we run the spread.

Who says we've passed on him yet? Maybe we haven't offered yet but who is to say we won't? Next Feb is 11 months away, a ton can happen.

RE: Official 2011 Football Recruiting Thread
We will wait toward the end of the recruiting period to offer as we always do. Each year under Kill we get most of our earlier offers and are late to the party with our other offers. To give you an idea, according to rivals we have 1 offer out, scout has us with 2 offers out. In the MAC west Toledo has 41, Ball ST., 28, CMU, 15. In the East B.G., 17, Ohio 16. Our recruiting strategy is 3-5 years behind everyone else. We are not performing as we should. I have a pal in sports media and he would agree with this sad turn of events. I do not know how this should be reviewed, but we are behind the 8 ball by a very wide margin. Updated: 3/2/10

I have to agree with you there. FWIW, O'Toole has been wearing nothing but KU shirts around school at WWSHS.

More of the latter. Players get to know the coaches better, see the facilities, etc. It's also where the coaches will extend early scholarship offers to the select few players they really like.
