Stockstill now highest paid f'ball coach in the Belt
http://blueraiders.dnj.com/article/20100...+extension

MT head football coach Rick Stockstill’s revamped contract extends through the 2016 season and feature an instant $200,000 raise with an opportunity for a $100,000 annual raise over five years.

Stockstill’s total earnings package in 2009 was $269,155. His 2010 package will be $469,155, according to athletic director Chris Massaro.

Stockstill could then earn a $100,000 raise each year his team meets certain bench marks involving wins, bowl appearances and academic standards, with a maximum possible pay increase of $500,000 over five years — which would potentially put his pay at $969,155 in 2015.

A really interesting part of the article is his saying "not thanks" to million dollar deals from Memphis & ECU.

Yeah? Who's next in line at MTSU? Guys like Dasher don't come along that often, esp. in the Belt.

Well, we have a rising redshirt sophmore, Brent Burnette who played well in the New Orleans Bowl, throwing a TD pass while Dasher was getting one of his wheels attended to on the sidelines. Burnette was undefeated as QB at Maryville HS (60-0) and Mr Football in TN in 2007.

Also enrolled for the spring semester is Logan Kilgore from Sacramento, California, a Rivals three star recruit that played one year at Bakersfield CC (CA) who has four years to play three.

In 2011 we'll have

RS-JR Brent Burnette Good-Good size(6'3" 209) great accuracy, played well in relief of Dasher in the New Orleans Bowl. Not mobile like Dasher, but he's a "winner". He went undefeated for his career(60-0) as a four year starter at Tennessee 4A powerhouse Maryville High School.

RS-SO Jamal Ramsey- He may be closest to Dasher. His 40 time out of high school was actually a tenth of a second faster than Dasher's. I'd be surprised if he has the same agility, but I'd assume he'll be used similarly to how Dasher is used.

RS-SR Andrew Banks- Probably has the longest odds of grabbing the starting position due to his size(5'9" 156) and he sees the field at WR quite often and may make a full time move there. If Burnette is the starter, I'd expect that Banks would have an excellent shot at being the wildcat.

RS-JR Ryan Rosenvall- Probably the biggest question mark of the current bunch. Was a JUCO brought in late in the game this past year with 4 years to play three. Franklin was pretty high on him and the JUCO that he played at runs Franklin's system. If you recall Dasher had a terribly disappointing season last year and there were expectations that Rosenvall would come in and shake up the competition and maybe even take the job. Reports were he looked totally lost in camp, he fell to the bottom of the pile and took a redshirt.

There is currently one QB in the 2010 class.

JUCO Logan Kilgore- I believe he has four years to play three, so provided he redshirts next year, he'll be a RS-SO in 2011. A lot of folks are pretty high on Kilgore.

Aww does wittle Hemi need a hug anytime there is a positive MT story. As to your comment.
Some would. Just like some TSU fans wanted Blakney fired after losing to BG, NOB, GMAC etc. but those would be few and far between. There will be some that will want him fired if we go 11-1 if that 1 is to TSU. Thats just sports.

I can assure you I don't need a hug from a man that is stalking Josh Jarboe. Just trying to say its harder to do what you did this year when the expectations are high. Just ask FAU.

If your looking for a stalker you'll have to search gotroytrojans.com. That's where the pic came from. I keep it because i know how much you like it.
Fan expectations don't make it more difficult. If that were the case Troy would never win because you guys have expected to be BCS busters every year I have followed you. Ten wins is difficult no matter the expectations. I think most of our fans are realistic about it. In my eyes, as well of alot of other fans, he deserves this raise for turning the mess around that he took over regardless of what happens next season. IMO it also something we needed to do to show a commitment to athletics for future conference alignments. We need to show that we will spend the money to compete. Things like highest paid coaching staffs, highest attendance, gaining exposure in our market etc. are all important right now. Stock is a big part of the last two, especially in light of the Lane Change that happened to the east. There have been more positive MT stories in the last 6 weeks than thelast 6 years. So to me, he earned his raise even if we go 6-6 next year. Which I doubt we do, but never say never. BTW his contract is actually incentive driven so if he doesn't win it stays stagnant.

We do have our share of nut jobs over at GTT that is for sure. I wasn't talking about fan expectations. (Although I have seen the post on your boards for running the conference and going undefeated). I was speaking of everyone else in the conference aiming for you.

As for Stockstill getting a raise I think that is great. He has done well, but if things turn south and he doesn't get another million dollar chance will he regret it? I trust Coach Blakeney to make the right decision with our players just as you trust Stockstill. They will miss on a kid sometimes, but most of the time they get the kids in line.
