If Shields is back next year,
I suspect we will see several more roster adjustments than just the 3 recruits.

I wonder which assistant coaches will get the ax this time?

RE: If Shields is back next year,
We signed 3 for 2 spots, which means one other player will be moving on at the end of the year to get back to even.

We have 5 to recruit for the following year already. I wonder if one of the 6 foot guards would be willing to red shirt. We can get by on the Foster/Solo pg and throw in Mouzy as the 3rd.

If Ricky set out next year he would play the following year a lot. If not, you have 4 six foot guards on the roster and 2 (guy 5'9" and sooner 6'3") more coming in. That would be six. The following year would be Ricky, Foster, Kelson and the 2 incoming guards. So, on second thought there is a log jam period.

SG next year would be Kelson, Mouzy, Sonnier, and Ricky.

SF next year would be Alex, Kelson, and Jackson (both playing out of position to cover for Alex). Cicic fits here in some way.

PF next year is Marlon who can shoot the 12 footer

Center next year is Montrell and Bails (if he makes can pull off the degree in 4 years, it took me 5). Leaper has to play if no one else is recruited and would probably red shirt if we can land a juco big.

RE: If Shields is back next year,
Looking at that lineup next year screams one more big. If Bails does not come back and Leaper needs time to develope, then you have Montrell and Marlon with Leaper picking up 20 minutes a game if you could get 30 per out of the others. That would not be good.

We are covered at the wings and point but we have to have another body period at the 4/5. Neighbor is in the next years class, so he can't help next year.

If a change is made, it needs to be done in plenty of time for next seasons early evaluation and recruiting. Under normal circumstances, in a lot of programs, I would feel certain there would be a coaching change, but in ours, I have no earthly idea what might take place.

I have the impression that the scenario that most seem to favor, should a change be made, seems to be that Steve have the option to resign to take a job somewhere else, rather than being terminated. Obviously there are a few that seem to think he should stay on, which is certainly a distinct possibility. Right now, I think it's even money whether he stays or goes. And the plot thickens.01-lauramac2

What's the difference? It all amounts to the same thing doesn't it? What about those assistant coaches that have been let go? Did they resign or were they terminated? Same thing, they no longer had a job here.

One thing I always admired about Ken Hatfield. Broyles told him he'd have to fire some of his staff, and basically Hatfield told him what he could do with that suggestion. He got on a plane and went to Clemson.

Some coaches may have verbally told Broyles were to go. Like you said, Hatfield let his actions do the talking.

That's because he played "Grinder Ball". Just kidding Pappy. He was a great coach, and a great guy. I've had some social contact with his brother Dick through the years, who is also a great guy, and had the opportunity to meet Ken on a couple of occasions. A real class act.04-cheers

He did coach "grinder ball," at least the football version of it. Three yards and a cloud of dust.

If only Scotto was around to see us talking so favorably about a Hog...too bad he's gone to that big fan board on the hill.
