Track takes fourth, beats host at BG
UT used five scoring triple jumpers to help place fourth in the BG Team Challenge, the first track event of the new semester. Amanda Kaverman took the 400, her first outing in that event this year. Several top Rockets didn't compete and others, like Kaverman, ran events that aren't typical fort them. Nevertheless, it proved so easy that even a Kaverman could do it.

Michelle Sutherland took third in the HJ with her best jump of the year at 5' 7.5". Now we just gotta get Lisa Johnson out there after hoops, hopefully in early April. The Rockets beat host falcons by 15. Without Ari Fisher setting foot on the track I think.

Swimmers get bg next this coming week.

Several top Rockets did not compete?
Others ran in events that they typically are not in?
Indoor results at UT should be treated as experimental.
Mr. Fetterman specified an iindoor track , in his donation , right , H2O?

It was a good meet. I was there. Coach Hadsell said that they would normally go to a non-scored meet this weekend at EMU but they cancelled their meet. They treated BG's meet as if there was no team score because they have a huge, team scored meet at the Armory in NYC on Friday (short week) and this week was a short week after the dual with WMU on Sunday. He held out all of his varsity xc runners and he had women like Kaverman (the #2 MAC 200m runner) do the 400m instead of normal event.

It will be interesting to see how they doin New York competing against 30 schools in huge team event.

Chug: not sure what you are getting at or what your tone implies?

There is an indoor track for practice purposes. And the outdoor track got some nice upgrades.

While I would never speak for anyone I got that he feels indoor meets are a time to try runners at different events, give them some cross training, etc to prepare for outdoor. I tend to agree (if that's what he meant) since indoor events are often not not the same as outdoor- i.e. 35 lb throw.

The Fetterman reference, I think, is a jibe at my anguish over not getting a competition track, which I was told there would be. I've been pretty vocal about it.
