1998-1999 rockets men basketball
The 1998-1999 rockets men basketball would run roughshod through this week a_s_s MAC this season. And most certainly be undefeated with the weak schedule played thus far.

And that was a team that didn't make the NCAA tourney. They would be the nearest thing to a lock in 2010.

That was an excellent team who struggled mid-season (key injuries if memory serves).

Some excitement surrounding men's basketball would be great. It is an indictment on me as much as the team's performance but I don't even know the players' names this season. Significant lack of interest.

You're not missing much. I do think with a little depth especially at point guard, we'd be winning. CMU has nine Juniors and Seniors and that's where we will be in three years. We should be as good as them by then.

i didn't think CMU was that good, aside from the one guy who hit 3 after 3 on us. they should have beat a team like us by about 35 but they let us hang around for way too long.

My sense of CMU was that they should have beaten a team like us by 15 at Mt. P and we should have beaten them by 6-8 here. They were NOT good. I hope to God we're better than that in three years.

My first game ever in Savage was the 98-99 team's win over Ohio State. I guess I got hooked after that 03-wink

A few basketball guru's predicted them to win the MAC West. Win the West, get a bye, and anything can happen in Cleveland.

I know and I'm at a loss for why. I a thread at the year's beginning I predicted them to battle it out with us for last. It IS good to know we will beat EMU in Toledo. Malcom Griffin predicted that. Always nice to see guys from a 3 and 12 team guarantee a win over the team that jsut beat them by 15. Gotta love that confidence.

Yeah will be as good as CMU in 3 years BIG DEAL, is that good enough to get us to the dance. I know even the biggest Cross suporters have to think he isnt going to make it to the dance. I doubt he will ever make the Semi-Finals of the MAC-Tournament. As bad as the west is he probably wont win the west as long as Hawkins is at the helm up there in Kalamazoo. Im hoping for a win this sunday if theres a road game we can win this is it!!!

I think they saw nine Juniors and Seniors and a team that - although 12-19 and 7-9 (MAC) - still were tied for first in the West last year. Who is substantially better than them?

No one. Maybe its just that we've owned them for a million years in hoops, but I never liked their teams- always seemed short on talent and too dependanmt on perimeter shooting. Of course their perimeter shooting killed us so what do I know?
