Random thought while watching Army/Navy
The BCS will never be made into a fair system, in my opinion. But in terms of PR efforts to defend it: Would criticism of the obvious cartel be a little different if Army or Navy had made BCS bowls, assuming they had special auto-bids in the same fashion as Notre Dame?

I was watching basketball game. Did either team finish with
9 wins ? I think ND has to win 9 games for its auto bid to
effect.
It would make no difference to me if Army/Navy both had
auto bids. However it might bother Air Force and the MWC.
Actually I find it odd that Army/Navy/Air Force were so easily
kept out of the BCS cartel. Were they ever seriously considered
for BCS special ND type membership ?

I dunno if it was ever considered, but boy did they miss out on a idea. Think of the feel-good national sentiment if Navy or Army (but most likely Navy) was in a big January bowl. Despite whatever hatred for the BCS as a whole, it would be 'morally indefensible' to question the credibility about Army or Navy's bids, or complain that 'they didn't play anybody'.
What about Air Force? It would seem unfair to give them a provisional bid separate from their MWC mates, though if ALL the service academies had them I doubt other conference members would protest all that much.
