BOSTON - With the Northeastern-Wright State contest tied at 67-67 with four seconds left, Chaisson Allen grabbed a rebound, dribbled up court and released a half-court shot that beat the buzzer and gave the Huskies a thrilling 70-67 win over the Raiders Saturday at Matthews Arena. Allen finished the day with a game-high 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

Allen, his teammates and the fans then mobbed the court in celebration.

"Once I got the rebound, I didn't know how much time was on the clock," Allen said afterwards. "So I checked the clock and saw that there was two seconds left and I could get one of two dribbles in. Once I released it and saw it in the air, I felt like it had a chance. Then it dropped."

"He got a shot better than anything I could have drawn up," said Northeastern head coach Bill Coen. "I have the utmost respect for the Wright State basketball program. I thought both teams played extremely hard. Both teams made winning basketball plays. Chase Allen just made the last one of the afternoon."

Allen's buzzer-beater came after an intense battle between two teams both ranked in the Collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll. Wright State, ranked No. 13 in the poll, got out to a fast start, developing a 12-point lead before eight minutes had gone by. Vaughn Duggins knocked down a pair of threes, including one at 12:47 that put the Raiders up 19-7.
