RE: Mens Basketball In Philadelphia
Justin isnt really a center man, he doesnt post up and he is rarely making post moves inside. I would consider Justin more of a 3 because he is on the wing so much. I think why Mo isnt putting up the numbers is he really isnt smart on the defensive floor he puts(or gets put) himself in bad position and makes stupid fouls. I never said Mo was going to be an all league player I can think of two guys off the top of my head I know are better forwards than him but I think(and thought) he is(and was) alot better than what these coaches give him credit for. He will get better as the year goes on.

I do agree with you that Justin has not been and will never be the center we're looking for. That Michigan talk, is bunk, Justin would never see the floor in the B10. What started my rant again with him was his 2 pt performance against mid-level competition. Dressler has much more of an upside than any of our other big men. He really does have "all MAC" potential as he gains valuable floor experience, conditioning, strength, etc. I agree with h2o's assement that molo has to gather himself everytime he wants to shoot, I'd be licking my chops on defense if I was opposing teams. That "one" 17-18 rebound performance last year, was more dumb luck than true athletic achievement.

Im sure in your perfect world emanoh guys cant have a poor game(or in this case a stretch) against Mid-level competition. I dont really care what you say about it because I literally know for a fact its true so im not going to argue with you about it. Justin is struggling right now and im not sure its just Justin, this team doesnt have rhythm. I think he will get back to the Justin of last year.

I just love how people shoot there mouth off about players and how they arent D-1 recruits and they dont even follow recruiting pretty hysterical. fyi Mo had an offer to South Florida and was going to go out of high school. Is Mo Big East caliber??? I think we all know the answer to that and that is no, but he could be there instead of were he is at now

Thanks- I could have looked it up but I was in a hurry. As I recall Jarrah was nothing speical his first two years- in fact as a soph I couldn't believe he was even seing the floor but he came on strong and was a defensive force his senior year. We need that sort of toughness in the middle-maybe Dressler has it but I'm not sure anyone else does.

I think when Malcolm Griffin returns both Justin and Bastfield may be spending more time on the bench. There will be times when you see five freshmen on the floor at the same time. And next year with the addition of redshirt freshmen Hayden Humes, Devin Russell, Neil Watson, and true frosh Chris Anderson, Justin and Mo Lo may become afterthoughts.

Only one bad game? What games have you been going to? The evidence is on the floor. Justin is a lifetime 9.7 pt per game scorer. Yes, he has other stats both tangible and intangible. I don't need to be a professional recruiter or follow every HS jr. and sr. in the tri-state area to state what everyone is seeing with their eyes. Speaking of Kool aid, nice left field reference to South Florida, like it's the center of the basketball universe (wink, wink), heh, heh..Good Lord, we were in compeition over molo with South Florida.
I do agree that this team does have an upside with the youth, but we're two more seasons away from competing in the MAC. Until then, I'll keep renewing my season tickets, cheering and calling a spade-a-spade until I see something different on the floor.
Back to one of my original topics, I agree with Rocketime in that we'll see much more of our freshmen the further we get into the season and it would be for the best.
P.S. I'm quick to criticize, but I will also be one of the first ones posting ere where we start to see D-I performances from both our upper and lower classmen. Until then, I can also be found in the stands cheering on the Lady Rockets. Congrats on the big win in the Pit tonight over New Mexico, who has never lost their own tourney.

had never lost their tourney. now, you must say toledo is the first visiting team to win the new mex tourney.
step off justin people. this is a team game. anyijong is a player who is good in the right role and out of place in the wrong role. the issue is molding a team and getting the most out of our talent. i remember larry gipson's first team. we didn't have a lot of talent but we became a pretty good team.
the upside here is watching some young players mature into good players and make this a competitive team. at least that's the hope.

RE: Mens Basketball In Philadelphia
stat of the game
toledo 0 steals
drexel 5 turnovers (the entire game)
steven "boy wonder" albrecht makes like brandon jennings and gets humbled a bit after the fast start. 2-15 shooting 4 turnovers 4 fouls an assist
salter the usual 3 points 2 rebounds 0 blocks in 20 minutes of mediocre pick setting action

RE: Mens Basketball In Philadelphia
I think its funny how fast some people attack basketball players for having a lack of talent, but when its said about a football player its not a lack of talent but bad coaching.
We all knew that this basketball team was going to take its hits this year, with being the YOUNGEST TEAM in the COUNTRY. Its gonna take some time, for these guys to gel and become a team. At least right now, we don't have 4 seniors like last year where their egos were more important than the team. I would take this team, over the crap and heartless play I saw last year on some on my road trips.

And the basketball players can be "called out" by name, but the football players can't because a player or family member might be reading the forum. That's even funnier--in a strange way.
