I would like to see us get to 8-4 but it isn't going to happen. Even if we do, we still aren't going to a bowl game.

Are you retarded? Do the math...lots of 5 win teams lost today. There is no way there are going to be anywhere close to enough bowl eligible teams. At 7-5 it will be a beauty pageant with teams like a 7-5 BGreen, but 8 wins is a no brainer. I know the loss hurts, but that doesn't take logic out of play.
No I am not retarded. Yes, I know the rules. Yes, I still believe we aren't going to a bowl game.

Then, no, you don't understand the rules or simple math.

Just like 2006, they have already clinched the MAC West the week before they play us. Then we went and blew them out in Dekalb. Expect a letdown and a very possible 8th win for this Huskie football team.

That's nice. It still doesn't matter.

We have nothing to play for either in that game.

8 wins. Better bowl position. Revenge from last year.

agreed. i'll take a chill pill and come back later.

all i'm saying is that we clearly had a better team and we lost. the players missed assignments, yes. but running me'co up the middle two consecutive plays is just absurd. i'd like to see what the few other non-biased posters have to say when they get back. run spann, run JA, hell, run Harnish. unbelievable. the team comes out and gives up 14-0 points in <5 minutes as i predicted they would. it's just bad football.

trust me, any emotion in these posts is because i want NIU to succeed.

OK fine. That's a little more rational. I wear NIU on my sleeve big time and I'm pi$$ed as sh!t right now. But the coaching staff did not lose that game for us. It would've been a great call if it worked. It didn't. And Chandler was the one that ran it on 4th down. We never got the running game going all day. We battled back from 2 TD down after 5 minutes. We could've folded up the shop. We didn't. We had the lead in the 4th quarter, but we couldn't hang on. Give credit to Ohio. We are not clearly a better team than Ohio. They have comparable talent to us. Frank Solich is a great coach. We outgained and probably outplayed Ohio in a lot of areas. But they found a way to win.

That last sentence is the most important; Ohio found a way to win. As I was unable to watch the game I can't comment on specific plays; however, thanks to ESPN mobile score updates it seems to me that our defense was the issue. I'm sorry, but you can not give up 38 points and expect to win. This team has had defensive issues all year, and until we correct that we just another mediocre team in a crap conference.

I am sick and tired of this mediocre bull-crap that we put on the field week in and week out. Either Kill has to recruit better players (which I agree that he should be given more than 2 years to prove) or the players he has need to learn to be more disciplined on the field. Quite frankly, if the team somehow is screwed out of a bowl game this year, they got what they deserved.

Our defense gave up 247 yards of offense. 2 of Ohio's TD's were non-offensive.

Up yours, Jerry Kill. Bad coaching.

Heyyyy somebody gets it.

Also, Bowling Green deserves to go to a bowl game over us and I won't feel snubbed whatsoever if we stay home this year.

Revenge? That's not revenge. They're going to play for a MAC Title, we're not. Simple as that. 8 wins? Yipee. Bowl position, ok, but this game largely means dick.

Hmm. Looks like somebody understands why I say we aren't going bowling. THis may actually be good anyway-from a financial standpoint. We lost a lot of money from bad attendance so losing more going to a bowl game may slow down any attempt at getting the IPF and/or stadium renovations. I would feel sorry for the players and for the lack of extra practice time though.

We'll get a bowl. May not be a MAC bowl, but we will.

The Toilet Bowl? The trophy game for the last 2 teams that weren't selected in the current bowls? Kind of like the play-in game in b-ball except you don't move on to play again.

Had we won the game we should have won – Toledo – all this would be moot. I don't know if I can take two more years of Me'co Brown has our feature back.

A Toledo win would still put us behind Ohio.
It would only be meaningful if we beat CMU.

Damn shame to lose this game with the defense playing as well as it did. Road wins require almost a perfect game on all sides of the ball. NIU has the same special teams problems than NU has. Neither team can cover a kickoff or punt. Hope the Huskies take the sting of this loss into Mount Pleasant next week and take it to the Chips.
