I expect a GOOD game next week with Troy and ULM, especially if Revell is back.

I am just embarrassed. Speaking for the Hilltopper Nation, I sincerely apologise for WKU's performance today.

Many of WKU's fans were describing how they would dominate the conference and would move on quickly to bigger and better things. Welcome to FBS football. You'll find it hard to keep good coaches too (we've lost several to Florida etc). It's much more difficult at this level to constantly field a good team.

I had 3 WKU folk move to sit behind us. They were very realistic about the game and their program/coach. I don't think they're looking to take FBS by storm anymore. Nice fellas. I only heard one "wait until basketball season".

I don't think WKU has to worry about that, at least not under the current staff...

There were Western KY fans at the game?

Probably more than UNT. All I saw was their team and cheerleaders... Eh maybe a fan or two. I was disappointed that they didn't bring a pep band or at least some fans... 03-banghead

They must've been wearing Cardinal, White, or Black because I saw maybe 3 people with green on when I got off the field after Pre-Game and Halftime. However, 20 people is better than 0.

bluefaiderfan111....you girls throw this out all the time. i never said that and i guarantee none of the wku posters on this site ever said that. i'd love for you to find proof of who made those statements. i'm sure some idiot has made that statement but i haven't seen it. if you're going to go all the way back to the year we won the 1aa championship you could probably find some of those statements. if you go back to only post harbaugh years you won't find much smack. people have been down on eLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLson for awhile,

it's just like when there is a prediction thread on haven and 90% of the folks called for 3 or less wins this year and 2 or 3 idiots said we'd do well, you ladies always copy and paste the 2 idiots and act like it is representative of the whole.

it would be like me judging all of the mediocre tennessee state fans by you and some of the fratboy posters on here. it's unfair because i've met folks like kajunraider and know that all of your fans are not eedjits.

as far as wku fans going to the muts game yesterday i'd be stunned if any went. we're oh for the season staring straight down the barrel of 0-12 and wku had the game on the telly. no reason to go.

That about sums it up.

Troy gets their fair share of this as well. One or two fans go off spouting how good Troy is and it starts a massive 8-page thread fight. Because of that, earlier this year (it seems to have subsided) if any troy fan said anything good about Troy, we were "thumping our chests."

I personally think there are some individuals who intentionally look for the bad apples in the group for the sole purpose of:

a) causing a stir
b) getting a rise out of a fan base
c) using it as some backwards way to feel better about themselves, it may be the only emotional stimulation they feel all day, you have to feed when you're hungry, right?

You can tell it's one of the things I dislike about message boards. From time to time, we'll do prediction threads, and most of them this year have been pretty close predictions, like 32-28, a close game. 18 or 19 will post a close score, and 1 or 2 will post something like, 55-7, and without a doubt there will be a thread titled "Troy fans think it's gonna be a blowout."

It's not a fan base thing, it's an individual thing. Most of the time it's a few UAB and MTSU fans, but definitely not their entire fan base by any means.

The few bad apples always stick out like a sore thumb and I guess people will always find the few, yet most negative examples, of a fan base in which to judge them by. It's sad.

..

I think some MUTS fans make a living out of doing this...

RE: Sun Belt scores 10-24-09
good posts by both troy fans. it is the nature of message boards i guess.

every message board has clowns that make the insane predictions. we have people on haven now that think our hoops team is gonna walk this year. i don't.

i know how many close games we pulled out last year. on paper we're a much better team this year but our schedule is much tougher.

but i can guarantee that some muts fan will go over to haven and read an idiot like carolina topper who predicts an undefeated hoops season every year and claim that 'the haven' is predicting perfection.

trust me....nobody on h.h. gives carolina topper the time of day....but it is an open board to topper fans and since he is one he gets to post what he wants...no matter how idiotic.

This doesn't go quite that far, but it might be the source of some of it. I know I certainly got the impression from some overconfident WKU message board posters that they had a rude awakening coming with respect to competing in the Sun Belt.
