RE: CMU Game
I can't say what the current issues are other than a change in the game plan and expectations set too high. But look back on the recruiting thread and the positive comments regarding the 2010 verbals. The LCD and bubble are improvements and part of the progression and part of the LONG term plan. RE and crew have better connections than Genyk so lets see what he can do with that. Yes, sometimes things get worse before they get better and support is what EMU will continue to need in the progress. If my son was a recruit today and I visited this site I would certainly be discouraged and go elsewhere. Yes, my son had other options, contrary to the common post that EMU recruits only received one offer, but he liked the school and chose EMU. Please stop the notion that EMU recruits are loosers...it really doesn't help the recruiting process or the image of EMU overall.

If that the case and the prior coach's players are so bad he should not renew their scholarships and he can have a team next year of 50 scholarship players and 35 walk ons. I can't see him doing worse than he has so far this year.

But I thought the mark of a good coach (or manager/boss) is get the maximum performance out of the players/employees they have, but I could be wrong. Good coaches are accountable and take responsibility not just blame the players. I haven't seen English or his staff take any responsibility for this season so far.

I agree with Huron Dave, I don't see the program so far under English progressing just regressing. I didn't expect English to work miracles but I think some people on this board thought so. I did expect English to have this team play more competitively than I've seen. I'll wait and see if he is another Harkema. He has a way to go before I agree with that comparison. And some people might be angry with me for not hopping on the English bandwagon or think I hate EMU football. I'm sorry if the facts of where the program is right now make you angry. As a long time football fan of EMU I know this program can't afford to go backwards or there won't be a football program at EMU. English was hired at a salary much more than any EMU football coach in history and with the administration backing him with long term debt bucks to make sure this program doesn't go backward.

But okay here's a question:

In what area or areas has this team improved under English and his staff? I don't care about LEDs, bubbles, attendance and sound systems tell me how the program and team has improved under English this year.

That's his opinion. Wonder if he asked his own head coach about the unprofessional comments he made towards Genyk prior to the game.

RE: CMU Game
It is my understanding that there are rules to just cutting players and play with 50 scholarships and 35 walk ons, as EMU 79 has suggested, although I seem to have noticed that he has rid the program of some of the akids who show a lack of care for the program already. (Budanaro, Hunter ect) I may be wrong but there may be a rule as to how many Scholarships you can give per year?(maybe) I'm not suggesting that the kids we have are Bad kids, and I'm sure Coach English and staff want to make them the best players they can be, but in order to get higher quality recruits, EMU has to be at the same competitive level OFF the field, for example EMU 79 , Bubbles, LED's, Team Rooms, attendance, sound system, PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT THE PLAYERS AND COACH, otherwise we are hoping that we luck out on recruits that turn out like TJ Lang Tyler Jones, Andy Schmitt, Jason Jones, how about just bringing a whole class of those types of players in and leave the wishing and hoping for the birds. I mean if you dont have a scoreboard that works, no indoor, a no name coach, what would possess a kid upon a visit to Ypsilanti in January that would scream, this is the place I want to play. English has already transformed EMU in that sense, now a player see's that the Administration is on board, the football program has superficial things that other programs have ( that's how kids think, I have them myself). The only way to get them is to show these kids that no matter what the KIDS are supported by the Alumni and community, through thick and thin. So again, I say lets stay on the bandwagon and just see what happens by year three!
