Why the fook does the NCAA drag this out every year?

Griff- Were you expecting anything else but a drawn out process with the clowns that are the NCAA. Its hard to do but you've got to temper the excitement till you see the kid check into a game for the first time. That way you won't get too disappointed when you see him in street clothes at the end of the bench and its mid-december.

Yeah, but he was very late in signing which means almost every other playing coming in this year gets reviewed before he does.

No. I really wasn't expecting anything else. It's just extremely frustrating to go thru this year after year. What bothers me the most is the corrupt organization like the NCAA screwing with these kids lives.

RE: "Almost There"
Signing late means the amateurism investigation starts late. After that, the speed of the process depends on how quickly the family can answer questions - usually with documentation - that the NCAA poses, and whether those answers lead to more questions.
It makes little sense to complain about the speed of the process even though we fans would like it to be fast: both the NCAA and the student-athlete (and his family) are motivated to move as quickly as possible.
If the investigation isn't complete, I believe Lance will still be able to practice; so it won't really be an issue until games start.

Not the first time we heard that one. First he miss the scrimmages and they say he will be ready for the opener. Then it's we'll know in a few days. Then it's the start of conference play.

I'm gonna leave him out of any projections until I see him cross someone over.

I don't even want to think about eligibility. I'll continue to tell myself that he's 100% eligible and it will come true.

Either Lance will be eligible without issue, or Kansas, two-years removed from a national championship, would have been as desperate as a program that has seen one Sweet 16 in the past ten years.

I'll take eligibility for $1,000, Alex.

You think kansas past on lance because they ran out of scholarships? Right. They past on him because there is a issue bigger then we imagine, or he and henry don't want to play together.

They'd get another scholarship.

there is always someone claiming that the player in question will qualify everytime this happens. Usually by someone more credible then you.

I hope he plays but i won't hold my breath.

This is from June 30th when Xavier Henry almost cut ties with Kansas and went to UK.

Quote:Perhaps fearing the worst, Kansas coaches reached out to Brooklyn Lincoln guard Lance Stephenson within the last week.

But Stephenson has signed a financial aid agreement with Cincinnati of the Big East, a story first reported by SNY.tv on Tuesday.

Ironically, Kansas, which once had its choice of Stephenson or Henry, may now end up with neither.

http://www.zagsblog.com/2009/06/30/henry...-kentucky/

Why would Kansas reach out to a player that you claim was known by everyone to be ineligible?

Saying that Mick did all this for show doesn't quite add up when a top program like Kansas was just as interested.

Don't have any idea if he gets cleared or not. But if Kansas passed, they sure had an odd way of showing it. They burned up Lance's phone the weekend he visited UC. All the calls with a Lawrence area code became a bit of a running joke with the coaching staff and the Stephenson family.

As a follow up. Nice timing on this article and quote:

Quote:"I say, 'Why not take him?'" Cronin said. "Number one, assistant coaches perpetuate myths when they lose out on a recruit. They tell their head coaches, 'Oh, you don't want him, he's a bad kid,' or, 'His parents are trouble.' The fact is, if they could have gotten him, they would have taken him.

"When Lance was here on his visit, his phone did not stop ringing, and I know who was calling because he showed me. It was high-major programs, programs competing for national championships. Up until the day he committed to us, they all wanted him."
