You gave Iowa a better game away than Penn State
gave Iowa in State College.
Great job ASU

Good effort today against a good Iowa team at their place. I know the ASU program is past the moral victory level so I am sure most of the fans are disappointed but you represented the SBC well today. Not totally sold on Iowa being that great after almost losing to Northern Iowa but they did beat the Nittnay Lions @ Happy Valley, I believe? Corey Leonard and Mr Arnold looked pretty good today also.

Anytime you have a chance to win against a top ranked BCS program, that is all you can ask of your program. It certainly was a major step up from last weeks performance against Troy.

I think Troy woke us up. They were the first team on our level that we had played up to that point. We realized that we couldn't win on pure talent alone. The players are finally starting to play the way they were coached to play.

RE: Good Game ASU!
I was really pullin for stAte, but I felt the coaching staff screwed it up for yall. Granted, they came in with a good game plan that gave yall a chance, but I felt with that 4th down with 4 minutes to go in the game, taking the field goal was the right choice, you were down by 10, and by taking the field goal, you were guaranteed a chance to get the ball back with a decent amount of time left to drive to officially tie the game. the other thing was like a play or 2 later when yall let 30 seconds tick off the clock before yall burned your 2nd timeout, which would have come in very handy on that last drive or even if you use the time our right away and save those 30 seconds it helps you towards the end of the game. I like the aggressiveness, but I still think simply put, 4 minutes left, 2 time outs available, and down by 10, the field goal puts you into a position to get the ball back and tie, instead yall had to kick the onside kick and hope to recover. Regardless, I was very impressed by your effort.

First- we already tried the field goal earlier in the game and missed. If I was the coach and we had already missed a chip shot field goal I wouldn't risk it again. The coaches made the right choice in going for it on 4th down.
Second- The coaches didn't call the second time out, our QB did. The play was in and the team didn't get lined up right so Leonard called the time out. When the camera showed Roberts you could tell he was upset about the time out.
Third- I rarely take up for the coaches, but they called all the right plays and made proper adjustments during the game. Iowa score 2 TD's very quick and the coaching staff made the right adjustment and it never happened again. The stupid penalty for flipping into the end zone hurt us worse than any play called by the coaches. Roberts and 2 other assistants gave him the butt chewing of his life.
The overall game plan and play calling was good enough to win, but the players have to hold on to the ball and not get stupid flipping into the end zone penalties.

I didn't see the missed field goal earlier in the game, I had a lot of yard work to do yesterday so I was watching it off and on, but I still think that the field goal is the right call because even if you recover the onside, you still have to get another field goal, and I'd rather the kicker be used with 4 min left and less pressure than a last second killer.
As for the time out, if that's the case, then that's fine, but the coach needs to have the guys more prepared for that kind of situation, those kind of miscues can be deadly.
Don't take that as a slam on the ASU coaches, I was mostly impressed with the game plan and for the most part execution, I do still think they had a mistake late in the game, but every single coach will make a mistake or 2 during a game regardless of how good they are.
With that said, yalls game against ULM is gonna be a hellacious one next week, ULM has shown some chops early in conference and yall have shown yourselves to be one of the top teams in the belt. Troy and MT have the game of the week on Tuesday, but yours is the game of the weekend. Good luck in that one.

The wasted timeout on the last scoring drive was a back-breaker. Forced us to go onside.
As far as the field goal, it would have been forty yards from there and Arauco had missed from 26 and we still would have needed a touchdown drive.
