WKU stadium capacity
I believe a question has been brought up on here (if my memory still works) before about the seating capacity of WKU's stadium and if it could be expanded. Our AD, Wood Selig, was quoted in an article saying our renovation was done to be able to expand to 40-45k from our current 20-22k by adding a second deck to the new side.

Quote:Selig said the new portion of the stadium was erected in a fashion that could eventually allow WKU to place an upper deck atop the new side. Such an expansion would increase the stadium’s capacity to as many as 45,000 seats.

“Eventually, when we get to that point where we expand Houchens-Smith to 40 or 45,000 seats, absolutely,” he said. “We can then be in a position where this particular game makes a lot of sense to play in Bowling Green.

“The design work has been done, the architectural work has been done to allow for future expansion of Houchens-Smith Stadium.”

Great to hear! 04-rock

It's good to see all of the Sun Belt stadiums will either be brand new or newly renovated by 2011. And further down the road most are capable of major expansion into 40,000+ seating when needed. Which is great, Go SBC!! 04-cheers

RE: WKU stadium capacity
SBC schools are beginning to make progress and the league will continue to get stronger. The conference schools are getting serious with stadium improvements. Ladd-Peebles in Mobile is old, but they're sprucing it up and adding 11 skyboxes for this year. More improvements are planned, and hopefully by the time we are eligible for championship play it will be up to par with the other venues in the league.
