This shouldn't be too much of a surprise from the Nation's most up and coming conference.

It seems like it is much hard for the an SBC team to go undefeated than WAC team. Y'all play SEC and Big XII teams, while they are playing what?

yes, agreed. the perception is that we are the weakest conference because of our win/loss percentages. but what people never acknowledge is that we are playing some big time competition. most Sun Belt OOC schedules include atleast one or two SEC teams every year. I challenge ANY mid-major to play an OOC schedule like that and come out with multiple wins. We are much stronger than the MAC, and I'd say we could compete well with the WAC. They have like 2 or 3 teams who are worth a dang, the rest of them are nothing special.
The Sun Belt is young, so we don't get the respect other conferences do. That's understandable. We are the fans who in 20 years will tell stories of when our conference was laughed at, and people will chuckle. We're on our way, we just gotta stick together and grow as a Conference.
No worries, we're the "OG's" of the Sun Belt fellas!

Any number nerds want to see what the all-time conference standings are 2005-2008 for the Sun Belt and WAC and then see how many wins the bottom 4 WAC teams of that period had against the top 4, and then bottom 4 Sun Belt vs. top 4?

Boise joined the WAC in 2002. In that time, they have lost 2 conference games. 1 to Fresno St and 1 to Hawaii.
It truly is 'Boise St and the others'.

RE: Sun Belt Conference seeks flexibility with team it sends to New Orleans Bowl
Ok...bored at work so I did some looking at schedules and the opponets. All I looked at for OOC is BCS opponents as that is really how we are evaluated (perception wise).
The SBC will play 21 games this year against BCS opponents. The average ranking of those teams (using the CFN rankings for 2009) is 34. The WAC is playing 13 BCS teams with an avearage ranking of 40.
More fun with numbers. The SBC will play 6 games against the top 10. The WAC will play 3. The SBC will play 11 games against the top 25 and the WAC will play 4. The SBC will play 18 against the top 50 while the WAC will play 9.
If the WAC played the schedule that the average SBC team played then the perceptions would be quite a bit different.
