That's at least 4 OL in this class. Hope EMU pulls in that many on the DL.

I can't remember a recruiter at EMU sign that many quality student-athletes. :ncaabbs::bow:Best recruiter!02-13-banana04-rock04-cheers

Kudos to coach Anderson, he has done an outstanding job recruiting to date.

RE: 2010 FB Verbals
I'm sorry Lady Eagle, but Genyk recruited good student athletes and in fact the overall gradepoint average increased after he became coach.
Those players that made MAC all academic this year were not English recruits.

And in terms of this class it will be interesting to see where it rates among MAC classes. I'm hoping for improvement over last year's class.

Can't seem to find much on Malcolm Thomas, looks like a much smaller version that his brother who could be a bigtime MAC receiver.

No. He did not sign. I am not sure where he went.

RE: 2010 FB Verbals
I don't feel competent to pass judgement on these kind of tapes (tapes are really difficult to evaluate, esp. for lineman), but a few random thoughts:

I did see a lot of speed in the WRs, Axon, Lattarious Thomas, etc. WR from Florida, Scott, looked like a super fast WR. I'd guess he has big time written on him. His tape was very impressive.

Benz didn't play in a pro style offense in high school. That's interesting to see how he fits.

One of the DTs really looks like a horse, I think Westerman (sp - not sure if I got the name right). Cutler too.

Parker looked too heavy. Hansen, and it was hard to see him clearly from the film, but he could be a good one.

Hester might be one of the better recruits?

I can see some of the h.s. kids playing in '10, e.g., Scott, Benz, Hansen, Hester, etc. (plus there are others like Moffett, Goodwin and Gambrell (sp) ).

I see a lot of newcomers playing this September in addition to JUCOs and redshirts.

Any thoughts?

Does anyone know about Julius Shelby or Jernone Cox?
They both have articles out there saying they signed with EMU, but nothing from EMU saying they are going to be here.

Here is Cox:

don't know about Cox, but Shelby will gray shirt and sign next February.

Believe he'll start as probably a part time student (there are advantages to it), and then become FT in January (which starts his elig 5 year clock) and sign in Feb and do spring ball.

He could opt to be a FT student in fall, but I'd think PT has advantages.

Nice find... 04-bow

Both our two scholarship P and PK have impressive credentials and were recruited by BCS schools (OSU, WVU, etc.).

It appears the short kickoffs have been addressed, English has attempted to address the team's shortfalls, we'll see how successfully this fall. Now only if we could find another QB, I'm still not comfortable going into the fall season with 3 QBs.

We'll see about the short KOs. In college they kick from further back. The kid averaged 67 yds per KO. That gets it to the 3 yard line.

RE: 2010 FB Verbals
Bottom line is that RE used two scholarships on a kicker and punter.

I actually favor that even though most coaches would stop at say one scholarship.

On a team like EMU's, field position is going to be very important (our defense isn't strong enough to play short fields and we'll need all the FGs we can) investing scholarships in kickers might very well pay off.

Every extra 10 yards on a kickoff or punt, is 10 yards gained in terms of field position.

Ten yards is 10 yards...

We'll be trying to play some "small ball" (baseball term). I can RE trying to win some games 17 - 14.
