Free Market GOPer: Let's Outlaw Tobacco!
and Tom Coburn calls the Democrats bluff in the process

http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/repu...06-05.html

Governments can't afford, especially now, to lose all the Tax Revenue....but he gets to the real issue.

the "Big Tobacco" industries Profits....the other part of that Industry, the Trial Lawyers03-lmfao

http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/repu...06-05.html

Quote:A Republican senator who is also a doctor is calling for a new era of Prohibition — outlawing cigarette smoking and other tobacco use.The unlikely demand comes from Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), one of the staunchest free-market conservatives in the Senate. …

Coburn has suggested banning tobacco outright rather than passing a bill that would authorize the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to restrict the manufacturing, marketing and sale of tobacco products.
“If we really want to make a difference in health and we want to eliminate dependence on tobacco, what we have to do is to stop the addiction,” Coburn said during floor debate.

------
Coburn suggested Democrats are backing the legislation with an eye on helping a key interest group: trial lawyers.

“We have had all of these lawsuits through the years where billions of dollars have gone into attorneys' coffers,” he said.

If you can make a specific law taxing AIG bonuses, how about a specific law taxing attorney's fees from tort law? Class action suits? 95%.

How fast could we balance the deficit that way?

I hope this doesn't back fire, but I don't think its possible right now anyway because of the Tax Revenues

aside from that, a Nanny State Government should be promoting some un-healthy lifestyles and/or Euphenasia to keep from going bankrupt
