"As a league, C-USA's cuts – some of the most significant in college sports to date, commissioner Britton Banowsky said – focused on altering conference schedules to reduce travel. That's one of the biggest ways it can help its schools, which stretch from Greenville, N.C., to El Paso."

i've been saying this for a while now. Conference USA is too spread out.

Yeah I agree. That's what the Sun Belt has going for it. Say for Denver, the conference isn't to spread out and isn't to close together.

3 Louisiana Schools (maybe 2 in the near future)
2 Arkansas Schools
2 Alabama Schools
2 Florida Schools
1 Tennessee School
1 Kentucky School
1 Texas School

None of the schools are in any kind of financial "hole", well except for NO which really wasn't their doing. We have all the great recruiting states in our conference and we aren't traveling more than 10 hours to every school. So GO SBC!! 04-rock

The public schools are seeing tax money cut and in turn have less they can siphon out of axillary revenue (ie. housing, cafeteria, book store, soda machines).

The privates have seen their endowments hit and likewise can't afford to siphon off either.

Run oil back up to $100 a barrel and we've got a mess across the board.

If we didn't have UNT, it would be even nicer...but, we have what we have and no use in rethinking everything at this point. I wish the Florida schools were further north though.

Yeah, thats the only draw back to having FAU and FIU. They are in Florida, but WAYYYYY down in Florida lol. Even though UNT is far for most of us in the east; teams like stAte, UALR, ULM, ULL, and New Orleans don't have all that far to travel. Bare in mind that I'm not a Geography major lol...

Even though you are one of the "far" away SBC teams, I believe that we need North Texas. You guys have an enormous student population considering being in the belt, some of the best academic programs in the country, and a new stadium coming your way. Its safe to say that all these benefits out way the extra mileage. Go SBC!! 04-cheers

Funny story...

I found out a few years ago how little some people know about geography. I was all set to watch a world series game a few years back when the Rockies made their run. I was talking to one of my fraternity brothers and he asked me before one of the games in Denver if the Rockies were in Eastern or Central time zone...

I was in utter disbelief, I just asked him where he thought that Colorado was. As it turns out, at one point when he was a young child he was doing a united states jigsaw puzzle. He didn't know where Colorado was so he set it down somewhere down in the southeast with plans to get back to it and he never finished the puzzle. So for some reason that's where Colorado stayed in his mind. The really funny thing was we had a fraternity brother who was from Denver and would drive home for Christmas and Summer breaks and he always complained about how the drive was like 20+ hours and yet somehow it still never occurred to Patrick that Colorado might not be in the southeast.

Well no one has ever accused PiKapp of being the brains of the operation. 04-cheers

I'm great at locating countries and such but when it comes to cities I'm a lost puppy... Ha but you'd be surprised by how many people have no idea where anything or anyone is in the world....
