yup. michigan is quite formidable when it comes to micro brews. that festival looks mighty tasty. i've only been to founders as of yet. can't wait to do my much discussed michigan brewery crawl. had the opportunity last september/october to travel around oregon for three weeks. michigan might trump oregon in quality, but oregon puts out some quality beers. went to

rogue (obviously)- newport
amnesia (awesome!)- portland
tugboat (great atmosphere)- portland
deschutes- bend
bend brewing co- bend
mcmenamins- an eugene location
ninkasi- eugene
hopworks urban brewery- portland
double mountain- hood river
10 barrel (outstanding!)- bend
bridgeport- portland
brewer's union local 180- oakridge

drinking resistance by two brothers right now. i love this brewery. the domaine dupage french style country ale is one of my favorites of any brewery

I love me some Bière de Garde. One of my go-to homebrew recipes is in the style. I have a bomber of Rendezvous from Lakefront Brewery that I may bust out this weekend. Wish there were more examples of the style out there.

Isn't it Portland that has something like 30 breweries/brewpubs within walking distance from one another? I certainly don't far enought West, often enough.

If you make the MI trip, most of the Beeradvocate threads on the subject are pretty helpful.

Today is Divine Reserve day down in Texas. St. Arnold is releasing their 11th divine offering... and let me just say that this one is spectacular. I hope they decide to bring back this DIPA on a regular basis.

I just saw some guy on Ba catching a bunch of chit for calling it "sessionable."

Spring Break just started, trying to decide what to drink tonight to celebrate. My default will be a trusty Oberon. Can't decide if I want to commit myself to a bomber of something a little less sessionable.

Took a trip to Nashville a month or so ago and took a trip to the Yazoo brewery. If you're not in TN, AL, or MS, you're missing out on something great.

Light coffee/roasted caramel flavors in their Dos Perros ale, banana/lemon taste and scent in their hefe, deep coffee in their Sly Rye Porter, and their award winning SUE porter.

They recently introduced a Gerst Amber, which is supposedly identical to an old Nashville brewery's beer from 1893.

Some of us like to enjoy our sessions a bit differently. That said, DR11 goes down smooth as anything else I've ever had.

The Ba arguments over semantics are a beautiful thing aren't they? Kind of reminds me of how many of the spin room threads end up.

RE: What have you been drinking lately?
the landlord and i have been brewing beer for a month now. i'm super excited about this "old ale" we have bottle conditioning. initial tasting suggests a stout. which is just fine my me. he's not a hop head like myself, but we did add 2 oz. of chinook hops (11% alpha acids) during the boil, and 1 oz. cascade (5%) for the finishing hops. i'm stoked.

Different people prefer different thing in the drink, as they have different taste, well I like to have alcohol with the cold ice, without it I can't sleep, but a small pack only.

Just blew a corny of my Saison and getting low on my Frankenbier (mistakenly grabbed carapils instead of pilsener as a base malt-awesome body though).

Looking to do an extract batch of something summer-like in the next week.

RE: What have you been drinking lately?
I bought a summer sampler pack from Saranac Brewery in Utica, NY. It has 2 each of their summer ale, belgian white, hefeweizen, pale pale ale, kolsch, and IPA. I had the summer tonight, it was just average. I have never tried stuff from Saranac before so just looking to sample what they have to offer.

Is that the one being advertised as having the flavor of an unflushed commode?

Didn't notice THAT flavor BUT the bottle was only 3/4 full.

RE: What have you been drinking lately?
my poker group has been intrigued by some homemade "desert moonshine" created by a few of the under 21's.

other than that I'm usually motivated to drink by WEATHER.

since it's summer and i've been at the river - - freezing cold heinekens and whiskey sours have been the most made beverage.
