This interview made me sick. I thought at first he was going to be positive, said he didn't hear any of the comments the interviewer mentions were "hateful" comments said about him when he left. The interviewer basically set the stage for the baloney that followed from Cal's mouth.

Keep in mind I have no idea what the freak Cal is talking about when people say he used to refer to the "miserables" except one person in this board said once he thought it might allude to some idiots who sat behind the team and jeered a couple of games early in the year. I have been away for a few years. I just used to keep up with the scores and watch what I could see on on tv from time to time. I didn't start getting into this message board till the past couple of months and the tournament. So I clicked on the interview link with no pre-set notions. He could have pleasantly surprised me and been big about it.

But I listen to this scumbag talk and he starts referring to how "in this town you have the miserables" which is a big bunch of baloney -- Memphis has no more "miserables" than any place else, and then the jerk refers to "for sale signs" the first four years he was at Memphis. He clearly thinks people will believe bald-faced lies. He never had a single FOR SALE sign in front of his house at memphis! Why does he keep saying such stupid, lying garbage?

Did he ever show anyone a photo of these phantom for sale signs? The guy was LOVED all 8 years, and the fact that he has miserably shown himself to be the KING OF MISERABLE in that interview by saying a pack of lies about for sale signs when he was handed the city on a platter for 8 years is absolutely despicable.

While i have commiserated a bit with people griping the first few weeks of his departure like everyone else and then recently I tried to move on, his behavior in this final interview has reopened a few wounds and made me view him in a worse light -- he just showed himself to be infantile and unprofessional, willing to say almost anything. And I never really believed that about him before. Now I see it in the plain light of a video interview.

If the man is going to flat out lie about for sale signs that never existed and which everyone knows never existed (the only way those would ever have been put up is by some other team hoping he'd get mad and leave us and I don't believe it happened), then how I can believe anything he says about recruiting?

He flat lied about for sale signs "the first four years" so everything else he says, such as how he tried to keep our recruits here" is totally a wash as to credibility. The guy has no credibility left after that.

And would someone fire the idiot interviewing him? Why bait him into a negative comment by saying there were "hateful" comments? Where did the jackarse doing the interview hear "hateful comments"? In our message board where we were frantically worrying what becomes of our program and venting? Why would a tv news guy allude to internet board comments as news? Every team has people making hateful remarks from time to time on stupid message boards, how is that relevant to bring up? But Calipari does not need to take the bait when a negative question is handed to him either. A pro would have changed the subject.

Calipari knew he broke our hearts when he left all of us in disbelief -- for we were believers who were so sure he would stay -- and he should have had the decency to just say "I broke their hearts and you have to just let people vent a minute when you leave a place even though I was just moving on to a new job after 9 years" and left it at that, not trashed us as "miserables" and said those of us who griped after he left were "miserables" who tried to "put for sale signs" on his house the first four years.

Good god, just absolutely disgusting. Puh-leez keep this slimebucket out of our backyard and pray Pastner can get a hold of our future memphis high school people and avoid having UK start taking over our city's recruiting like scumbucket was obviously in town to do, given a recent article about coaches like him in town, referencing the future local high school star several teams are after.

Oh yeah, and since he lied through the interview about for sale signs, and the nastiness started right after the interviewer brought up "hateful comments" (apparently meaning the internet), interesting that Pastner first says he didn't see it, then suddenly starts saying he's "twittering" -- which (1) is something he probably knows we've talked about re him and (2) indicates to me he may actually have looked in here since he denied it and is so handy at logging into internet networking places like Twitter. I never thought that before but anything is on the table as possible at this point given he is such a pathological liar. I guess lying easily is the mark of a good salesman, which is what he basically is.

Hey TigerPaws, thanks, although I just found a major typo gaffe I had typed and have corrected in the original. I referred to Calipari throughout and then in the last paragraph somehow got confused and put Pastner's name in when I meant Cal.

I've corrected it in the original, and you might want to run in and do a Quick Edit in your quotation of it when you are online sometime. thanks.

I should have used less harsh language but at the time I typed that, I was still a bit outraged. I don't stay that way but I get annoyed, blow up, and get over it, basically. I don't have any thoughts about RC in this. I hope that despite the typo you did know I was not criticizing Josh, whom RC hired and you are instead referring to Cal in the past. As to Cal, I just was dumbfounded hearing him talk about for sale signs. One has to wonder what he is talking about since he says this so frequently.

Is Cal delusional or did some idiot put a for sale sign up as some sort of "funny" prank? It is hard to imagine that would happen; we had good records the whole time he was here, so what is he talking about? It seems like a crazy lie, or maybe something happened that none of us knows about. If someone actually put up a sign like that the first 4 years it would have to be someone from outside trying to get him to leave because I don't recall any grumpiness about wanting someone else while he was here.
