Am I ACUTALLY reading this right?
Are there 2 WKU fans ACTIVELY discussing Football instead of Basketball?
This just in The Devil has been spotted throwing snowballs in hell and FIU has won the Sunbelt.
It is extremely rare for me to talk basketball. I hate basketball. I take pride in WKU doing well, but I haven't been to a WKU basketball game in 10 years.
Hardly ever miss a FB game though.

There's really not much to discuss on the hoops front though, as we're dominating the Belt. Actually, Troy, how many years do you have to win the conference championship in a row to be considered dominate? We've only got 5 this decade. Is that enough?
In football?
The bar is set at 4. Wake me when someone else gets there.
Hell, they don't even have to do it 4 years in a row. 4 in a decade and I'll give them a pat on the head.

So if Troy wins this year, that would give them 4 "championships". 1 standalone, and 3 Shared (Im assuming that FAU beats them head to head ) That gives them 4.
So UNT has 4 in the decade, Troy would have 4 if they win this year.
That makes for an interesting 2010.
Lets say Troy doesnt win next year who is the best team in the decade for the belt?
(OF makes popcorn, sits back to watch UNT and Troy fans beat on each other)

Shared? SHARED???!?
What is this, a sandbox? Save that "sharing" crap for a very special episode of Dora the Explorer.
Let's define it another way... When someone else wins 4 this decade, AND makes it through at least one full season undefeated in conference (I won't even require them to go on a 26 game, 4 year undefeated conference run to qualify)... We can talk dominance.
Just one season. Just one. One year where there's no in-conference letdown. One undefeated year, four championships in a calendar decade.
Then I'll consider it a draw.
(Note to Troy fans: Yes, you have a good team. I'm just trying to get a little rise out of you all. If you'd like to slap me back down to earth, you could mention our current high school coach and his .045 winning percentage against full D-1A competition. And if that's not enough, just remind yourself that you have something to look forward to this year when football season rolls around, unlike some of us. )

When over the span of a calendar decade, a team wins as many championships as every other school combined possibly could... That's a pretty dominant performance.
If not for our series of unfortunate football events, we'd have a similar claim.

RE: FB- My how far we ALL have to go...
UNT was the standard. Now, TROY is the standard. we can argue about the Mean Green winning 4 championships in the Belt's early days, and you can also argue about TROY bringing the Sun Belt in to the national spotlight with our signature wins over Missouri and OK State (and Arkansas this year). Both teams have claims to being the best ever. UNT dominated the Belt for many years early on and have my respect for what they did. However, I feel that TROY is doing similar in a much more difficult time to do it, not to mention carrying the Sun Belt banner proudly into battle with many BCS programs and doing so with style.
It's an argument that neither side can win. The only way to decide on a clear "winner" is to have the non-UNT and non-TROY fans vote on their own, away from our influences and arguments. Even then, it'll only be the opinion of the board. Still, I consider this board to be the home of our conference fans. Because of this, if this board votes on something, I feel that outcome is "law."
