Someone will draft him on "potential". His NBA career will last about 4 years at the most.

And he'll probably be sitting right next to this one that was drafted on "potential"

That is probably the one and only time Robert Swift will ever be mentioned on this board. I figured you would have gone with a Koufos reference.

I thought about it, but Swift was probably the most ridiculous HS-to-NBA jump in recent times. Honestly his senior year I would have put Swift as maybe a Top 15 C (not top 15 overall) and noooooooowhere near NBA ready. I was shocked that anyone would use a top 20 draft pick on him, but we are talking about the Sonics (at the time) here.

ol swifty was the number 12 overall pick.. if mullens comes close to that after not even having A GAME where he was in for more than 30 minutes.. there is serious problems.. no way could he be worth a lottery pick at this point.. none at all.. i can list at least 70 players.. including his teammate turner who would be significantly better picks.. and buford and diebler will probably be better pros when they decide to come out, not that they even should be top 20 picks at any point either..

Mullens will probably make an excellent 12th or 13th man....

RE: BJ Mullens declares for the NBA draft
The sad thing is if you look at the early mock drafts, I have seen him going as high as the first pick in the draft. Why he would go before blake griffen i have no idea. Based on that idea, I've never had good coaching before so I have to have some kind of untapped potential somewhere.

I think he should be a 2nd rounder at best. He doesn't overly impress me. Yes he is a good player, but I don't think he is anything special. I think he will be a career backup or a starter on a bad team that doesn't impress.

O$U's APR score has to be getting slaughtered with all these one and done players. Isn't this the 5th or 6th in 2-3 years?

Only hurts their APR if they were not meeting academic standards the quarter/semester when they left. Otherwise it has a neutral effect on the numbers.

I doubt there are 30 better NBA prospects in this draft. You have to compare him to other guys in the draft, not just whether you think he's good or overrated. He's 7 ft. and relatively skilled. I don't really think he's that good, but he could be a solid NBA player in a few years. No way he falls out of the top 20.

Welcome to the D league kid.

Even so he will be a top 15 pick.

If I were an NBA GM there is no way in hell I would take him. Even if he is going to be a good NBA player (which is nowhere near for certain) by the time he is really ready to play he is also ready for free agency.

Koufos was a much more ready player coming out and he just got sent to the D league last month.

Not a chance.

BTW -Cook, Koufos, Mullens, ... what has Matta done developmentally for any of these kids? Seriously. I saw Mullens play in HS and at OSU and saw basically no difference in level of play.

And Yancy Gates, who we know needs more time to develop his game, wore Mullins out last year (2008) in High School.

Mullens would start only for the bottom half of the BEast teams. NBA??? Who advises these kids?
