as for expansion, the only expansion i support is that which would bring in more teams in the southeast region. i've said it over and over, Georgia, the Carolinas, and Virginia would be ideal. They may not be really close, but they fit our footprint.
Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia may fit your footprint, but that doesn't mean they fit the conference.
Here's the only type of expansion I would support. It won't happen, but these additions would instantly impact the Belt.
Tulsa & Houston. Both would immediately elevate Belt football & basketball and allow the creation of solid east/west divisions when Denver finds a more suitable home.
EAST
FIU
FAU
Troy
Middle Tennessee
South Alabama
Western Kentucky
(New Orleans)
WEST
Arkansas State
ULM
UL Lafayette
North Texas
Houston
Tulsa
(UALR)
I'm sorry MeanGreen but this time you are wrong. The Sun Belt has teams in Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Texas. Texas is the odd ball. The footprint is the southeast. there's nothing wrong with that, but since you said I was incorrect I felt a need to show you I was in fact right.
Surprise ! I know where Belt teams are located.
Here's a quote from an Arkstfan's post.
" Historically, this is southwestern to mid-south league. The true history of the conference is being based in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas. Those states were 6 of 6 members then 6 of 7 as we got off the ground and even today represent 6 of 13, soon to be 6 of 12."
You still haven't shown that you are in fact right.

RE: If .......
we're not talking about the past. today, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Florida, and Kentucky is where every team EXCEPT North Texas are located. How is this even in question? What is it that you are arguing? All I'm saying is that the Sun Belt footprint is in the southeastern states. That is just fact.

RE: If .......
While Arkansas and Louisiana have teams in the Southeastern Conference, those consulting a map would conclude that they are not in the Southeast. That is like arguing Chicago and Milwaukee are in the east because DePaul and Marquette are in the Big East.

As usual, a sensible Arkstfan post.

RE: If .......
i consider the southeast to be: Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, and South Carolina. If you do not well that is fine, but my entire point has been based on this.

RE: If .......
Not many in Arkansas consider it Southeast, maybe some now that Arkansas is in the SEC but we weren't comfortable with Southwest as a label either except on the western side of the state. We always said Mid-South when I was growing up.

RE: If .......
I consider Dallas area "the South" though.
Texas is such a huge state it's probably bigger than the entire SouthEast.
West Texas is a different story.
Where does the "West" start ?

Mid-South for me also, but over the last 15-20 years it has become more acceptable to known as southeastern.

RE: If .......
a lot of people consider every state that fought for the Confederacy to be "southern."
