RE: ESPN Bloger chat with FIU head coach...
Awesome to see FIU getting love. We have not got a lot to show for the improvements that we have made. But we have some recruitis coming in who I believe are going to continue to change the culture surrounding FIU football. On top of the Legg is really taking the offense to a different level by speeding up the tempo. If you all thought FIU's offense stopped with the implementation of the spread, you're dead wrong. FIU is running at a blinding pace. Now that everyone knows the plays, it is all about tempo. I think this is when we really are going to see FIU get over the hump and start to become a big time program in the sun belt. Sorry Troy, but I really believe we are going to win it this year. I cannot help but be excited about the returning guys we have, and the guys coming in.
JUCOs such as
Theliar, a 6'4 WR running a 4.4, was one of the best receivers coming out of a JUCO.
Starling, a 6'5" 255 pound and very athletic defensive lineman is going to become an instant impact player.
Jarrell McGee a 5'11" 200 pound corner/safety who runs a legit 4.3, could play both ways.
Wesley Carroll, the 2007 SEC freshman of the year as a QB, transferring from Miss. State (will sit out this season and have two more years of remaining eligibility).
And Frosh like
Wayne Times another extremely talented slot guy,
Jairus Williams, a 6'5" reciver with all the tools and ability to play on Sundays in the future,
Austin Tottle, a 300+ pound OL is a pancake machine,
Dave Istanich is a skilled and athletic OL and another 300 pounder,
Darian Mallory is FASTER than T.Y. Hilton. No kidding.
Pooh Bear Mars, Army All American linebacker, nuff said.
Just to name a few guys, but all of them could see the field this year for FIU.
I would not be surprised if one of the listed is another SBC freshman of the year guy. I would definitely expect ALL of the listed to end up being extremely productive guys for FIU.

So that's ULM (the beat us last year, one poster says thats why they'll beat us this year), Arkansas State (schedule), and FIU (momentum) beating us this year...I guess that put's Troy, the most talent-laden team in the sunbelt (by a long shot) in 4th Place.

i look forward to seeing what FIU, stAte, and ULM can do this year. But, until they actually beat us, we're the best.

hmm, Sounds like its going to be a two team race for the SB crown this year. Haha. If i know one thing its to not put too much hope in freshman making big differences in teams production during their first year no matter how good they were in high school. I believe FIU will once again be much improved this year but think they are still another year or two away from challenging for SB title. Once the guys from their last two classes become veterans they will def be a tough team to beat.

I am more excited about the JUCOs right now. However I think that the guys we have coming in as freshman will be given a chance to play. We all saw what our freshman receiver TY Hilton could do to SBC defenses. I am more speaking in terms of the freshman we brought being at key positions and positions of need.
Yeah, FAU won the conference two years ago, but we will take care of you at home this year so you won't have to worry about it... lol.

Troy will travel well to Miami, probably even with the band. We had a great time down there at our tailgate party and SunBelt title-winning victory three years ago.
