UARL's Moore to miss game after leaving bench, sitting in stands

CBSSports.com wire reports

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Arkansas-Little Rock guard Steven Moore did not accompany team for its game at North Texas on Saturday night as punishment for leaving the bench and sitting in the stands during the first half of the Trojans' last game.

Moore walked off the court midway through the first half of UALR's 78-69 loss Thursday night, going to the locker room before taking a seat in the stands. He was on the bench when the second half opened, and played the last 5:19 of the game.

Moore's departure from the game followed a dispute with coach Steve Shields, according to a release issued by the school.

"In my 20 years as a coach I have never had a player leave the bench during a game," Shields said in the release. "Had I known he went and sat in the stands during the first half, he would not have had the opportunity to come back to the bench in the second half. As I told the team last night in the locker room, I regret putting Steve back in the game."

Shields is expected to meet with Moore, the Trojans' leading scorer at 13.6 points per game, when the team returns.

Missing poster courtesy of the North Texas student section Pit Crew.

Pat on the back for the UALR students who came out and went back and forth with some of our loud fans. I shook hands with a lot of them, hopefully at least one reads this forum. Congrats to a strong team that dragged us into their style of game and off of our own.

Wish we'd have taken this game. But if we're only going to win one against the Trojans this year, I want it to be the game that might be coming in 2 weeks.
