WOW Very nice. It looks like a step in the right direction. Maybe the quality of the game on the field is attracting the attention of some fence straddlers out there.

RE: FB: SBC sees rise in attendance for 2008 season
i've said this for a while now, the Sun Belt's product is great! it's merely the perception stigma that has hurt us. SBC teams line up big time BCS programs to fill our OOC schedule and we lose a lot of those. but hell, anyone would lost most of the OOC games if they played the teams we did! i think now that we're scheduling more mid-major teams that you will see a lot more bowl-qualified Belt teams, which will improve our national perception.

I wonder when/if the NCAA will ever truly enforce the 15K attendance rule. There are some MAC schools that are not hitting it.

That's great news for you guys.

If the South Florida schools could get better support, you could cross 20K easily. My mom is an FAU alum (when EVERYONE commuted) and my cousin went to Troy State (er, Troy), so I enjoy Belt football.

RE: FB: SBC sees rise in attendance for 2008 season
I'm willing to bet the SBC attendance goes up even more next season. A bunch of teams around the league get some good home games that should make for a good crowd.

WKU gets USF at home
MTSU gets Memphis AND Mississippi State at home
Troy gets UAB at home
ULL gets Southern AND Kansas State at home

ASU possibly getting Louisville at home would be great too.

We get Oklahoma State at home in 2010. Glad to see we are all making moves to get more home games.

It'd be cool if you guys take em down like we did at home back in 07! We also play them in 2010 but at their stadium, hope we can get revenge! So I'll be rooting for ULL during that game!

Let the Belt give them 2 loses in 2010

I'm jealous of MTSU's home schedule for next season...!

UNT has Army, traditionally a good draw, in 2009 and Kansas State in 2010.

I saw where UNT had Ohio and Army at home. I wasn't sure if those were classified as big home games for you guys though.

I'm glad UNT has made the schedule a little less murderous. If the Mean Green can play up to their potential, they can undoubtedly beat Ohio and Army.

MTSU has definitely paid its dues for that schedule. Much deserved.

WKU has home and home series with Navy and Army coming up also.

A Military Academy (Army, Navy, Air Force) is always great for attendance. UNT had nearly 27,000 in '07 when we hosted Navy.

The only OOC home game we have this year is against Toledo... but I am ecstatic to have games against UF and Alabama (I am DEFINETLY going to that UF game and I'm sure many FIU fans will!!). From next year on we should be having better OOC home games.

RE: FB: SBC sees rise in attendance for 2008 season
We got extremely lucky to have USF at Lockhart the year before.

Normally if we get a "Big" name program we go to Dolphin Stadium to play which is nice because its a great facility, but its far from campus and the school makes NO money and has to pay outrageously to get the facility.

2010 against Michigan State in the new stadium should be good for attendance.
