So now that the mascot is officially changed, how are the students reacting? Have they jumped on board with the Red Wolves, or are they still hesitant, wanting to stick with the old mascot? I know when Troy State became TROY, a lot of students (including myself) openly protested the switch. Of course, we all eventually came around, but it took a while. Hard to let go of something like that ya know?

I think everyone has adjusted to the change. Sales of merchandise is up. All you see around here is Red Wolf stuff. I personally like the change.

The Red Wolf is a pretty badass mascot. I got to see it when they came to Troy this year.

Both the schools in the SBC that had to change their name got badass names.

The Redwolves and the Warhawks.

yeah I agree. I think ULM did an outstanding job with their name change. the mascot and the logos all look great. i also think it's a good idea that they are going by ULM, rather than Louisiana-Monroe. much more marketable. now they just need to get ESPN to fix it on their ticker.

we're still Troy State on some of the ESPN stuff as well

yeah I know. the only time ESPN gives a crap about the Sun Belt is when we're upsetting some BCS team.

Same thing happened here at ULM. I think it helps that both of our schools got some pretty cool mascots. Warhawks/Redwolves > Indians

Agree; I am very glad that stAte changed mascots. Indians was so plain and boring; in my opinion not very marketable.

stAte and ULM both now have cool, marketable mascots.

I think all the Sunbelt team mascots are pretty badass actually.

i'm still a bit confused on the "hilltopper" but i thought it was hilarious when the Sound of the South finished our pre-game performance at this year's Troy vs. WKU game the hilltopper guy came over and started messing around with some of the band members, looked like he was trying to eat some of us haha....

My Wife and I both LOVE that wolf howl that stAte plays at thier stadium. Thats awsome.

Have you got a new "mascot" or just a new nickname? Do you still have that Little Red thing?

Red was a Spirit Character (whatever that is); it appears he was an interim until we changed from Indians to whatever we were to become.

The new mascot is named Howl; following is a pic of him leading the team out onto the field.

I must add that the new red jerseys are badass too! When the team was warming up before the game they were wearing black and then they suprised everyone when they came out of the tunnel wearing the red jerseys. The crowd went crazy when they came out in red. It was awesome.

yeah that wolf is awesome and the howl sound seems like it would be great to get the crowd going and intimidating for the visitors! that kinda happened at LSU with all the tiger growls and such.... kinda got old actually...

Yeah the Red Wolves are wearing on me now, and i really enjoy. I feel the fighting Farmers would have been awesome for A State too for teh simple fact think of the merch that would be bought up across the nation?
