Written by: Sun Belt Conference
Release: 02/03/2009
NEW ORLEANS – Six Sun Belt Conference tennis teams are ranked nationally according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) most recent polls.
On the men’s side, Denver is listed 48th among the nation’s best with its even 2-2 record. The Pioneers’ two losses have been to formidable opponents however, falling to then #22 Miami and #23 Pepperdine. Behind Denver, South Alabama is ranked 70th, while New Orleans is 75th.
On the women’s side, Denver is ranked 40th – the lowest ranking of any Sun Belt squad. In their four matches played so far this season, the Pioneers have faced then-ranked #15 Fresno State, #31 Texas A&M and #40 Wake Forest. Following Denver, FIU is listed 51st and South Alabama is 56th.

RE: Six Sun Belt Tennis Teams Ranked by ITA
nice! that's one of the sbc's better sports. there are usually 2-3 sbc teams that get bids to the NCAA Tourney in tennis. MT's #1 doubles team won the doubles national title a couple of years ago.
MT's and Troy's womens team will probably be in the rankings soon too. MT is 2-0 after beating Tennessee Tech and UT-Chattanooga. Troy is 2-0 after beating the last year's A-Sun champ (USC Upstate) and beat ULL the other day. i think they both have pretty strong teams this year.
