RE: Potential bowl tie-in for SBC
doesn't the initial bowl have to release them before a team can do that?

Yes, you are right about that.

It would depend on how the contract is written. But let's be honest...the NO Bowl would rather have Troy as SBC #2 than FAU as SBC #1, simply because Troy will travel better to that game.

Agree totally,

FAU does NOT have a travelling fan base yet. Hell the Home fan base is still under growing pains. That being said if FAU was in a orlando/Tampa area bowl I believe that FAU would travel pretty well for that.

well, if the Belt gets this bowl, and possibly the GMAC, we will need to reevaluate where our champion goes. New Orleans is great, but if we can get a better bowl, let's put the champ there.

I am sure those contract guru's at the SBC office are on top of all possible senarios, they leave no stone unturned ... sorry but i still cant get over how bad they botched the mythical "3 extra bowl tie-ins" this past year, seriously, does the conference have a legal department or at least lawyers they can hire to review contracts like these/those?
Sorry to rant but that whole situation still chaps my arse.

the Sun Belt does not have a spledid reputation. Bowls don't choose SBC teams as their first choice. Because of this, any contract we sign with a bowl had better be air tight, because the bowl will do anything to choose someone else if they can.

no Waters equals NOT TIGHT, which is why we didn't get those other bowls.

RE: Potential bowl tie-in for SBC
new orleans is the best destination for the SBC #1. i would like to see the sun belt #1 vs an acc, sec, or big east team in new orleans, but i kno that isnt going to happen next season. mobile bowl has a chance to be a sun belt vs BCS, but the mac needs to drop their contract this off-season for that to happen, which is possible kinda since they haven't been doing well down there and since they struggle to get good mac attendance at that game. and of course the Orlando bowl will be a cusa team vs either us or mac. so i have a feeling next season if we get mobile bowl and orlando bowl, it's gonna obviously wind up being 2 bowls against cusa, 1 against mac. im not complaining tho, 3 bowls is better than 1.

i couldn't agree more tennischamp. if the new orleans bowl could bring in a bcs team, i would certainly be all for keeping that as the champion's bowl. but if it stays the same with c-usa's 4th, and the gmac and orlando have better competition, it makes no sense to send the champ to the big easy.

i am for sending the champion to the bowl with the best competition, wherever that may be.
