RE: Disappearing threads
Deleting threads, posts and editing posts is the quickest way to assure the demise of any comment oriented entity. Participation falls to nothing when it becomes obvious to those that put time and thought into their participation on a board, blog, or any e-news source. What any of us thinks is offensive, might not be offensive to others.

Thanks. Don't see a situation where I ever would, but if EVERY one asked me to, eh, who knows.

I'm not a fan of anybody other than moderators being able to delete posts, personally. I'd like to see the option go away as people can hide their stupidity after being shown to be a moron. :)

RE: Disappearing threads
You make a good point. The board we came from, we had those who would do exactly that. Edit their post to cover a stupid statement. I liked to quote those people who had a habit of doing that in a reply before they had time to think just to piss them off. They could edit their post, but a record stood as a monument to them. Of course that makes them look even worse when people see they tried to cover their original comment.

Of course the worst offender was a mod and she would just delete everything. Even worse, she would raise your warning bar for exposing her.

I also frequent a beer-related board. Over there you have 15 minutes to edit your post. That should be enough time to add something you forgot without replying to yourself or change spelling. Otherwise you'll have live with what you've written.

She was a real witch, wasn't she.... Some guy starts a thread and quotes an article that was stupid. An intelligent and well respected member calls the author of the article "Dumbo" and he gets a public flogging for it. She then procedes to break every rule in the forum only to delete her comments the next day when she was called on them. But create a post calling for the murder of our president and she'll have an orgasm.

For those curious, the coach got fired. He's standing by the fact that he doesn't believe he did anything wrong.

RE: Disappearing threads
Thanks for bringing this issue to the forefront. We had a poster on the UC boards who was notorious for deleting whole threads. We changed some back end stuff to stop that, so he found another way to shoot himself in the foot, he's no longer with this board.

RE: Disappearing threads
.

Let us turn this Shoe Around and Throw it in the Other Direction and see how badly it STILL STINKS where it lands at:

Let us say the "Mentally Challenged Players" came into the "Normal Sports Arena" and played against these 'so-called Normal Players' ....

BUT - -

The 'Mentally Challenged Players' stomped the 'Normal Players 100-0' ....

The IDIOTS would be out, en mass, celebrating the kicking of ass that took place ...

Why is that ??????? WHY IS THAT ???????

If you can't stand to LOSE, THEN DON'T FREGGIN PLAY !!!!!

If you play, eventually you will have to learn and accept that "Silly Un-PC Old Lesson", that Defeat is a part of Sports, just like Death is a PART OF LIFE ..... if you don't like the taste of defeat, then BECOME BETTER PLAYERS .... 01-wingedeagle 01-wingedeagle 01-wingedeagle

Someone always Wins and Someone always Loses .... "DUH" .....

When I played sports and fought in Marital Arts Tournaments, I knew one of us were going to Win and one of us were going to Lose and I tried too make sure it wasn't me losing - -

And no it didn't feel good too lose ... but IT IS A NORMAL OUTCOME if you play it the way it is meant to be played and not under some sissy PC By-Laws for Clock Stopping and such weakness.

The only other Proper Way to avoid the Sting of Defeat, is too NEVER PLAY ...

I suspect someone might have made an over-the-top un-PC comment about the mentally challenged and that lead to the deletion.

That makes a lot of sense when you combine internet message boards with a drinking game.

If that's the case, and it was a moderator, I would hope that the moderator would report the deletion to me as I like to know what is going on here.

To all moderators again, please do not delete anything in the spin room, unapprove it instead.

Yes it was a sad S@D day. Feb 9 2008 Then the stuck in the MUDD Mods failed the board and there have only been a handful of posters since then. I was a contributing member there for almost a decade. Paid membership for some time.
